Meet Gloria Altonnia of The MouthSoap and Pabulum Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Altonnia.

Gloria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, my family would go to the movies or to see a play every weekend. We made it our tradition to catch up with each other and discuss the films and plays that we saw. I remember going out to this outdoor theatre at Herman Park in Houston, Texas to watch ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and I thought to myself that this is something I could do. This is beautiful and exciting. From that point, I knew that I wanted to entertain people. I did plays such as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Snow White’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and I did my first feature in college called ‘Sara’s Book’. After college, I moved out to Los Angeles, CA to begin a professional career in the entertainment industry. I’ve studied at The Groundlings, Margie Haber Studios and most recently IDSA.

Currently, I’m working with my partner Betty Bema, who is the founder and creator of The MouthSoap and Pabulum Entertainment. I’m the host of a podcast show called The MouthSoap: TV, Film & Foolishness where I review TV and Film, conduct interviews, explore entertainment news and have fun segments, such as ‘Test Your Gangsta’, which is a trivia segment over industry-related topics. I’m also a partner in Pabulum Entertainment where we create original content that includes documentaries, web-series, short films and more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road that I’m currently traveling has definitely not been easy. I feel you have your usual struggle of getting the perfect headshot, finding classes that fit you and your needs, creating your own material and agent searching. As an actor, you receive a ton of “No’s” there’s also the life struggle. How are you going to survive while perusing your dream, family and personal issues may come up and it’s just apart of the journey. This is the path/lifestyle that I chose and all the challenges come along with it. I wouldn’t change it because I love every moment, no matter how difficult. It’s a tough business and I know people say that all the time, but it’s true. Thick skin is definitely required lol.

Please tell us about The MouthSoap and Pabulum Entertainment.
I’m a partner in Pabulum Entertainment and a podcast called The MouthSoap. We specialize in writing and producing new content that gives a voice to minorities, including women in front of and behind the scenes as well as diverse ethnic groups. I’m very proud of bringing the ideas my partner and I have to life. We are uniquely different from others because we showcase stories that normally wouldn’t be told, in a ratchet to righteous type of way. Delivering entertaining content that educates and covers meaningful situations from our point of view.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Favorite childhood memory would definitely have to be watching movies during the holidays and eating and just having fun with my family.
