Meet Priscilla Presley and Lauren Cheek of The Forward Female

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Presley and Lauren Cheek.

Priscilla and Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The idea for The Forward Female was born over a few glasses of rosé and a long conversation over the need to fill a void in the professional marketplace that we were experiencing.

The timing couldn’t have been better. It all happened after we had just moved to Los Angeles to pursue our dreams. We found that having a supportive network was essential to success-but not always as easy to find. We recognized there was a better way to help empower women to work together, so we decided to do something about it. We set out on a mission to build the best female-focused community that gives women the actual resources, support, and connections needed to move forward towards the career and life they’ve always wanted.

We knew our mission was big and we wouldn’t be able to do it alone. What we did next was critical. We reached out to the mentors who first inspired and empowered us on our journey. Let’s just say the universe aligned. Our mentor, NJ Falk, who is now a co-founder and our Chief Mentorprenuer™ (and she trademarked the term), was one of the first to believe in the mission and see the vision, so we all came together to create what The Forward Female is today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth Road? We have learned that when you’re an entrepreneur there is no such thing. There are always struggles and unexpected circumstances you can’t account for when you start a business. We have learned that the best way to move forward is to be flexible and be able to pivot along the way.

Please tell us about The Forward Female.
The Forward Female is a mentoring membership program that helps women work through their current struggles, create inspiring new goals, and develops dedicated action plans to achieve them. We believe that everyone’s journey is unique, so your experience with us should be too. We crafted the business to deliver a personalized approach for just that reason. It’s also what separates us from co-working and digital community platforms. We offer a one-on-one mentoring sessions to support our members for the long haul.

Our member center is located in the heart of DTLA Art’s District, allowing our members to make connections, build communities, and work towards their personal goals in an inspiring and creative environment. We host a wide variety of events, workshops, and mixers at our headquarters. We aim to not only empower women, and men are welcome too, but give each person specific resources and steps to take action.

What’s really unique about The Forward Female is how we bring together a personalized growth plan and dialogue that is affordable. The result is we’re creating a truly diverse and inclusive, yet intimate, Omni-generational community which is supporting each other in new ways.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
We believe that a lot of things have set us up for success in our business, but luck isn’t necessarily one of them. We believe that you attract what you put out in the world and success is when preparation meets opportunity. You don’t need luck in order to achieve your dreams. Create your own “luck”, work hard, be persistent, be kind, and don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way.
