Meet Faith Morey of MoreyFaith Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Morey.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Faith. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a model for ten years and before then, I was a tomboy playing basketball for my region in Nigeria. Funny right? I did a lot of male sneakers and joggers until I came across a fashion show. I have seen beautiful women but with confidence now, that’s what I wanted not physical beauty her confidence. I said to myself I want to be like her “Naomi Campbell”.

I had a long transformation to do leaving my small town Port Harcourt and moving to Lagos to pursue my new dream modeling. Nigeria next supermodel by Mrs. Joan Okorududu was my break, you know I never won but that competition took me to South Africa and America where my journey started. I am grateful to her and everyone I have met on the way. About two years ago, I took another risk by packing my son and I and moving to LA for wider scale opportunities from South Texas. I love beautiful things in life so was my plus-size sister in law, when we had a trip she will have to start searching for her outfit a month in advance because she was a plus size.

As for me, I love to make a statement, dazzled outfit a friend once got so tired of me shinning each time we went for an event that she said “you don’t have to be African Beyoncé”. I realized both my sister in law and I needed our style or vision of representation through our outfit. I wanted her and anyone who was a plus-size to know they had one brand they could trust in sizing, fabric quality and variety of styles. I wanted anyone who didn’t conform to the popular style to know you can bling your jackets, jeans and it’s ok you are different nothing to be ashamed of.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A wise man once told me, “If any journey is smooth, then it isn’t a journey worth taking” the beauty of a journey is the scare. The mistakes, the falling and raising thats your story. Honestly, when I style clients or in my pop up in Beverly Hills biweekly, I get emotional. I can’t believe I did it, I took that step I risked it all. My biggest challenge was using my life experience as a guide. You know, as a model you hear a lot of No’s and not because you aren’t good enough but because you might not have the looks for that season. I know it’s crazy. Leaving Texas and moving to California as a single mom was the scariest and hardest part. Having to work a white-collar job that’s I’ll keep me away from my son 8:30am-8pm to pay rent, to make sure he didn’t lack. Oh my dear, I will run home to make sure I met him before he went to bed, I will cry all night asking myself if I made the smart discussion moving to LA. It’s expensive, it’s fast but the fastness was my rush.

After a year of been caused at dogs released to chase me out of properties, cops called because I a black woman is surveying the streets to bring my people later to rob or kids laughing at me under the rain because their parents just humiliated me. You know a cop once asked me “what is a pretty lady like you doing under this rain” I showed him my son’s pictures and broke down. Surprisingly he started talking about his kids too why he was a cop. That day I went home, calculated everything I had and started my project on finding a manufacturer. That was hard, everyone was in China. I remember after six months of sending sketches and phone calls the sample came and looked like a ten years of outfit or the fabric quality was bad. I will cry to my partner Daily until he advised why not produce in LA. Now that story is for another day.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about MoreyFaith Collection – what should we know?
We are specialized in making Elegant and classy dresses, occasionally clothing and custom make bling clothing. But we are famously known for is our dazzle collection: Bling – out jacket, dresses, and outfit. Working with TV and musicals to create their vision.

What sets us apart? Well, we manufacture our clothing in LA, we cater for xsmall to XXlarge women. We design clothing that is sexy but classy. Sample Blingout pieces that express each individual clothing for events, red carpet and event music videos. We do it all.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have been fortunate enough to have a great team “my family”, and a great partner who will listen to be nag about delayed orders, wrong fabric for samples, or sometimes I cry over not having fun like my peer, watching snapchats and IG story seeing them take vacations while I just used mine for the next season inventory. You know they say watch the partner you date they can make you or break you, mentally I mean. I am lucky to have someone who can be a partner, financial advisor and emotional rock. I often say ‘people pray to God to be successful, they forget to ask him to put those they love and love us.
