Meet Esther Levy of Ujjayi in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Levy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Esther. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a Cali girl, born and raised. I am fortunate to be a mother to five beautiful children.

This, in turn, helped me learn so much about health and fitness. My middle son developed severe allergies at a young age. When all else failed, I started to learn and slowly understand the beauty of natural medicine and the magic behind our own healing powers.

Over the years I have created a few remedies that I shared with some of my friends. There requests / Wishlist turned into a line of product. Now that my youngest is eight years old, I have the opportunity to dive in head and heart first and share this wonder I have discovered.

I am pretty active and fitness is a large portion of my week’s commitments. I am a yogi and a boxer. So naturally, I developed a line of skincare which would be helpful to anyone who practices any kind of sport. The stuff I have created is easy to throw in a gym bag or put on your dresser near your beauty and daily routine. And the kids Adore it all. Because its safe for them to use.

Our mission at Ujjayi is to provide you with the highest quality product using all natural and organic ingredients. This company was founded with the love and support from our large yoga community in West Hollywood. We enjoy sharing our personal touch with you. Every product, from inception to delivery, was created by hand in our LA workspace.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth ride. What I discovered was most companies grow too fast. The bills are really high and in desperation, the original vision ” eco-friendly” environment” is tainted.

I’ve had to say no to investors and turn down great ideas that would help me generate a lot of cash in a short amount of time. This was challenging when I was just starting out. As the company progressed there is more risk involved and staying true the vision becomes harder.

The best piece of advice I got was: prepare for the years that are not so successful. Most companies project they will make double the next year and so on. But its now always like that. Relationships (accounts) need nurturing. Life doesn’t always go as planned.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ujjayi – what should we know?
As the owner, I had to learn how to do everything! I’m the first to wake in the morning and the last to go to bed. I supervise every part of the business. I love what I do.

My specialty is the manufacturing of the product. I really enjoy mixing and pouring every item. When we hit our 10,000th pour of deodorants. I couldn’t believe that Ujjayi was received by such a large audience.

Our product was designed for yoga and fitness. Most natural skin care lines don’t cater to the sport. Our Deodorant supports a yoga work out or an intense routine at the gym. I love the community that we have built. I enjoy hearing about others and their story.

What sets us apart from other companies like mine is: I designed the company in a way that we will always have the opportunity to create a product in small batches, even when the company scales. I work from home and have created a loving and nurturing environment for me and the team.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
That the product I create is 100% functional. I stand behind the product and our service.

  • Our deodorant is $14.99
