Meet Emma DeMuth of Bspoketv

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma DeMuth.

Emma, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was ten years old living in Charleston, South Carolina I received my first sewing machine. After spending weeks watching me glue plastic grocery bags together to make dresses, my mom brought it home one day. After taking a couple of classes at a local fabric store, I decided to take my fashion designing skills to the online market. Being a naive eleven years old, I made one of those simple, free websites to post my garments. I borrowed my parent’s Nikon camera and asked a few of my friends to model my designs, then I posted those pictures to my website. I continued to do this every month. I loved it. While creating clothes still tickled my fancy, I began to notice a new passion emerge inside of me: photography. Eventually, this led to a curiosity for moving images, thus my passion for film emerged. I spent high school making silly videos with friends on my parents’ old VHS tape (if only Tik Tok was around then).

I knew I wanted to go to film school so I applied to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where, to my surprise, I got in with a scholarship from Taco Bell after submitting a video I made about my passion for filmmaking. I loved film school more than anything but felt there was only so much I could learn about the industry in the classroom, so I applied and got accepted to a dual degree program with the business school. While at NYU, I spent most weekends on set either producing, production designing, or directing films, making over a dozen films and having a blast doing it. My college time got cut short sadly due to COVID which caused me to move back home to South Carolina back in March. Luckily, Michael Dutcher, the CEO of Bspoketv, a new streaming startup, found my profile on LinkedIn and recruited me to lead the original content team. After working a few months remotely, I decided it was time to pack my bags and finally head out to Hollywood last month.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always tell people that I am almost paranoid by the amount of luck I have been given in my life. For the most part, things have turned out like I planned, not to say it’s taken a ton of work and quite a few mistakes.

We’ve been impressed with Bspoketv, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
bspoketv is a television network and advertising supported platform that aggregates videos from YouTube and creates original content with up-and-coming talent. We focus on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle bloggers and influencers who create 30-minute shows for a linear television experience, which are then distributed via vMVPDs, such as SlingTV, and over the air television affiliates throughout the U.S. We offer two different ways for advertisers to maximize their impact: in-program commercials (traditional TV) and Dynamic Lower Third. (For DtC brands earning 100k+ in top-line revenue). bespoketv was created to grow viewers and subscribers for influencers while also creating more natural spaces for advertisers. We target six categories on social media channels: beauty, fashion, lifestyle, travel, cooking, and wellness and fitness. With bspoketv, creators can find audiences more naturally and grow their own ad revenue, while advertisers are granted access to a key demographic that allows for specialized and effective content.

With bspoketv, we’ve taken something that was already working and elevated it to the next level for our creators and sponsors. We automatically give influencers and creators access to 25M homes. We give digital ad buyers immediate access to content with a pre-existing audience, all backed by analytics and at no capital cost. Our immediate goal is to capitalize on our current success by refining our advertiser and content creator dashboards and creating an automated ad sales system, which will allow our clients more direct access to consumers across the globe. We have created over 45 shows starring well-known YouTube creators in our soft launch this year. We have several original shows in development that will air after our hard launch in late 2020.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Basic answer, but it’s true: I miss interacting with people everyday!
