Meet Embry Munsey of Jedidiah Coffee in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Embry Munsey.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Embry. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After Steve spent a few years making his way up in the coffee industry, friends and coworkers started asking when and if we’d open our own local cafe. Reflecting on our combined love and passion for gathering people together, we could see how coffee did just that!

In late 2010, we started dreaming the coffee shop dream, and ten months later we had an investor in place to open a brick and mortar and were also running a small mobile coffee cart.

As a family, we were expecting our second son any day, and in the most unfortunate turn of events, we lost our Jedidiah at birth that July. It took everything we had to emotionally survive the loss of our son, so in turn all of our coffee plans took a back seat.

Six years of different jobs, a cross-country move to Texas, and two more Munsey babies born along the way, we launched Jedidiah Coffee in 2017, named in honor of our late son. We started as a mobile coffee bar catering events in North Texas while also raising our three precious kids. A few years into being in Texas, we realized our hearts were still here back in Orange County, so we picked up everything again and moved back in 2019.

We have since relaunched our mobile coffee bar servicing Orange County and beyond, as well as roasting our own coffee here in Laguna Canyon. We absolutely love what we do and how our business has grown. As busy parents, it often feels like a slow growth, but we have continued to expand and see more of our hearts pour out through this business.

We are truly a family-operated company as our kids enjoy helping us prep for events, drop of local coffee deliveries, test out new hot chocolate recipes, and even finish off any leftover marshmallows….shockingly with no complaints! We’re excited about how far Jedidiah Coffee has come in the short thirteen months that we’ve been back in town, and we’re extremely grateful for all the events we’ve played a part in, in the last three years. We still have a lot of vision of where we want to go and are so thrilled to be back in the Laguna Beach community where the dream began almost ten years ago!

Thank you for following along with us in this coffee journey! We take so much pride in bringing an excellent service to special occasions, as well as the product we now get the privilege of serving to our community.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jedidiah Coffee – what should we know?
We specialize in bringing a classic, yet fun coffee experience to everyday events or once in a lifetime occasions. We’re also known for our quality roasted, local coffee.

We’re proud of where we have come in so many years despite so many obstacles and raising a family while often working multiple jobs to be around for each other.

What sets us apart is how much we give to offer the very best of whatever we do. Whether it’s roasting, setting up the bar for an event, or dropping of local deliveries-we’re always checking and re-checking to make sure everything is done with excellence AND friendliness. We love to get to know people at events so it’s always a top value of ours to keep the operation moving smoothly while not losing ourselves to the process. That’s why you’ll always hear us refer to what we do as an EXPERIENCE. Because it’s not just a service to us, it’s doing life with other people and being a part of their experiences whether it’s daily home brewing or serving their guests their favorite espresso drink.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Friendliness.
