Meet Dylan Duff of Purple Monkeys Pictures in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Duff.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always loved film and television. Ever since I was little, I would spend my downtime making movies. I didn’t decide to pursue a career in the industry until a few years ago when I was in a musical with a community theatre company. After that, I was able to book a small role on a TV show. Once I had that show under my belt, I knew I loved acting and wanted to pursue it. I got an agent and have been acting and auditioning ever since. Recently I decided to pursue a career behind the camera as well. I’ve always felt a need to tell important stories that can change the world and that’s what filmmaking is. I immediately fell in love with writing, directing, and producing and decided to start my own production company Purple Monkeys Pictures inc. My first comedic short film “Phobia” is currently streaming on Prime Video, and my first Dramatic Short film “Perspective” will probably be released next year after hitting the film festival circuit.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had many challenges along the way. The entertainment industry is full of rejection. An actor’s life is honestly a series of rejection occasionally interrupted by work. It has been difficult, but I have learned to deal with the rejection as it is simply a part of the job. Filmmaking is also full of obstacles and challenges. Making my films was one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences I’ve ever had, and I plan to go through it again and again. I have multiple films in pre-production right now, and despite the struggles and stress that come with filmmaking, I still love it. It is difficult to explain, but when you love something, even the hardest times are a gift. Filmmaking has taught me so much about myself and my ability to persevere and get things done even when the audio is terrible or the lighting is wrong, or an actor doesn’t show up. Those are just a few examples of problems I’ve had on my films. No matter what obstacles we face as filmmakers, we need to tell the story we set out to tell and nothing can stop us.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Purple Monkeys Pictures – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Purple Monkeys Pictures is a production company that strives to tell stories that matter. We make films that have an impact on the world around us. If we can help anyone feel or become better with the films we produce, that is all that matters. We want people to take a positive message from our work. Purple Monkeys Pictures also plans to launch a variety of services to help aspiring creatives reach their potential and tell their inspiring stories. Stay tuned for more information on these upcoming services.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am very excited to continue on my journey and continue making important films that make people think, question, wonder, and feel. I also have plans to launch a charitable organization, hopefully in the near future. I am still working out the logistics, so I can’t say too much at the moment, but my goal in life has always been to help others and try to strive for a world where everyone can live happily. Hopefully, I will be able to share more information about the organization soon.
