Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin DAB Bowie.
Dustin DAB, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began writing poems and songs as a small child. As I got older, I learned how to use my family’s desktop computer to record songs and make beats. Being from Alabama, I decided to surround myself with like-minded individuals and I decided to move to ATL after graduation. From there, I continued to connect with people and further my career.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Very bumpy road. I have struggled with bad management, record labels stealing songs, homelessness, etc. When you are doing something your passionate about, your willing to go through almost anything to practice your craft. The struggles continue today even after multiple plaques, awards and Grammy nominations.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer-songwriter. I take pride in creating in ANY genre, and I was a pioneer in fusing hip hop with the likes of RNB, Country, Gospel…etc…
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would probably skip college and the workforce. I believe I wasted a lot of time in school and at work.
