Meet Dr. Christie Kederian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Christie Kederian.

I’m a SoCal native, born and raised in Pasadena, CA. As a Christian and Armenian-American, with parents that immigrated to the US from Lebanon, my culture and faith have guided me along her personal and professional journeys. I attended the University of Southern California for my bachelor’s, master & doctoral degrees, which technically makes me a “Triple Trojan”! I studied psychology and music industry in my undergraduate studies, marriage and family therapy in my master’s program and organizational/educational psychology & leadership in my doctoral studies. My career journey began as an MFT working with the community counseling center and underprivileged youth and families in the city of El Monte. Through extensive training, I grew my specialty in working with women who struggle with eating disorders and worked my way up to become the Director of Marketing for two different treatment centers, learning how to apply my therapeutic skills in business. My focus shifted to specializing in relationships as a couples therapist and a professional matchmaker/dating coach for the top dating sites in the world, including eHarmony and collaborating with platforms such as Match.com, OkCupid, JDate, & Chrsitian Mingle. I completed my doctorate in educational psychology and organizational leadership in 2019 and have enjoyed consulting other therapists and helping professionals on creating multiple streams of income through their multiple passions. My career journey has been defined by integrating my multiple passions of therapy, mental health, leadership and business.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve overcome many obstacles throughout her career journey but continue to persevere and build resilience toward achieving my dreams. As the youngest of director of marketing at a treatment center, and a young therapist, at 22 and 25, I faced a lot of external doubt that I lacked experience/ was too young to hold roles of leadership. The constant encouragement from my family to believe in myself and my God-given capabilities and in God to help me succeed in every endeavor and excel in the face of judgment. It is humbling to look back and realize how those challenges contributed directly to my growth and leadership has been an inspiration to many therapists that I currently mentor today as the Educational Outreach Liaison for the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. In the face of feedback to “stay in one lane”, I’ve carved my own path and helped other helping professionals believe that you can have multiple passions and still be successful. I’ve truly enjoyed diversifying my career and thriving I lead, paving my own path and going the road rarely traveled in an industry that sometimes makes us feel we have to color inside the lines.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I’m a therapist, coach and consultant. I specialize in working with singles to help them find love through therapeutically – proven principles. With an extensive career as a professional matchmaker, I draw upon my experience as a therapist and a matchmaker to help people develop the right mindset and matching criteria to find the one! Additionally, I am the educational outreach liaison for the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and I’ve expanded my business to consult with therapists who have multiple passions and want to create multiple streams of income. I am most inspired and proud of the transformation that I see in my clients and the ways they are inspired to grow and achieve their goals as well as the many couples I’ve brought together through matchmaking, and babies too! My brand can best be defined as bringing the perfect balance of relatability/empathy as well as professionalism and luxury service to clients.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
As a native to Pasadena, I have always loved L.A. There truly is no comparison to the sunshine and the diversity in nature and people. I love the various neighborhoods across the county and the ways that you can experience many different cultures and communities within one scenic drive. I’m not the biggest fan of the traffic and pollution, but I make the most of the time spent in a commute by listening to my favorite new artist or podcast. And most of all, I love LA because it’s where my family is.
