Meet Donovan Querubin of Social Hour Run Club in Orange County and LA County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donovan Querubin.

Donovan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Donovan Querubin, and I’m the founder of the Social Hour Run Club.

Running has done a lot for me in terms of opportunities, personal growth, building relationships. One specific thing in particular that impacted my life was joining a run club.

I had a great experience when I joined my first run club. I had just recovered from an ACL/Meniscus injury that occurred when I was playing basketball, and I was looking for an outlet for my athlete mentality. Needless to say, I found something even greater than that. I love the whole community aspect of it, accountability, and the relationships that I made from just showing up to run. When that club ended, I wanted to create something where other people could have the opportunity to experience what I did when I joined a running club. Community is huge to me, so I wanted to also highlight local businesses and areas as well. And that’s how Social Hour Run Club was born. I don’t think a lot of people dream of creating a run club when they’re a kid, but I’m proud of what it has become, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Has it been a smooth road?
Creating a run club is something that doesn’t happen overnight. It is a lot of trial and error when it comes to things like finding ways for members to come out, marketing, and location. Luckily when I moved the run club closer to home, I was able to market it better through word of mouth, and the growth alone from that has lead to the opportunities we get today.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We are really spoiled with the weather that we have in Los Angeles. There are so many great places to run and explore, and I think we definitely take it for granted.
