Today we’d like to introduce you to Divine Dawson.
Divine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Divine Model and Talent Management Inc. (DMTM INC) was launched in October 2014.
This newly incorporated company gives a new meaning to ‘The One Stop Shop’. Not only do we manage models for print, runway, and fitness, but we also represent the various artist behind the scene in the fashion world (make-up artist, hair stylist, photographers and filmmakers/videographers.
We pride ourselves on cross-training and many of our talents in not only modeling writing, dance, sing and act in addition to their primary talents. This unique agency also houses a Fashion Design line (DivineWear) created by Divine Dawson, Lead Designer and CEO of DMTM Inc. Divine Dawson has a previous background as a fashion model, stylist and designer.
He first emerged as a designer in Atlanta Georgia in 2001 as the owner of Shades & Sizes Inc., an agency that was opened to all ethnicities and sizes from petite to plus size. In creating his new line he stands by the concept that everyone deserves a voice in the world of fashion.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. It has however been a labor of love. The challenges have been just creating a bigger network and finding the best jobs for my people. Other struggles are working with companies that don’t want to pay well for talent and the caliber of talent we have is exceptional. We pride ourselves on being the best.
Other challenges at the moment would be building up the capital necessary for our other projects; all in due time.
DMTM Inc. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our talent is the heart of the business. We are known to have great consistency with our people and repeat clients like working with us. Some of our talents can be seen on Networks like REELZ, TBS, Showtime, Cinemax just to mention a few. You have some of our talents in publication as well as various music and entertainment videos, and also on Runways of many Fashion Weeks.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment was for me being at a recent fashion show someone asked me what company I represented, I said DMTM Inc, and they responded wow! I know that company you guys are everywhere. What was even better several of our talents were walking that event. It feels good to know that your hard work o paying off. It has been a long 4 years and this is only the beginning.
I’m especially proud of the melting pot we have become. We do not discriminate on race or size we are even opened to having our first transgender models. We believe in Beauty and art and that can be found in anyone.
