Meet Dennis Richardson of DxR Social Media & Digital Marketing Management & Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Richardson.

Hi Dennis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During my college years, it was difficult to find work, so I sought out meaningful ways to help others by doing some of the things I loved – and even things I didn’t really love. I started writing articles and building websites as a freelancer while also learning about the intricacies of social media and how to put intention behind its use. When it became apparent that college was not the path I’d be completing, I went on to begin a new adventure by combining the knowledge and skills I learned inside and especially outside of my classes. My talents in writing, building websites, creating social media ad campaigns, and understanding and running social media accounts came together to not only benefit me but, most importantly, the clients who needed them most. Real-world experience prepared and shaped me in ways that no traditional class ever could.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Even the most successful people in the world agree that the road to success is anything but smooth. For me, it has been an ever-changing path of gravel, sand, asphalt, and even flood waters — littered with peaks and valleys. Good thing I know how to adapt! The hardest struggles were in the beginning. While sure that I wanted to help others in some way, it took some time before the question of “how” was answered. Even harder was getting the very first client. Since then, tough moments have come and gone, and they most often come down to the clients we work with. However, those are always opportunities for learning and bringing our small team together to pick up and move on. Our team always looks ahead to face our challenges before they have a chance to actually become a problem.

We’ve been impressed with DxR Social Media & Digital Marketing Management & Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

All of this, combined with our personalized approach to each client, helps set us apart from others in this industry, as we provide tailored service based on the client’s unique needs and expectations.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Mentors exist online — which is great — but there are also mentors embedded within our social circles of people we already know. It seems people often get lost in the online guru world of mentorship, but it shouldn’t and doesn’t always cost money to build a relationship with someone who will help elevate you.

In general, networking is not always my favorite thing to do due to me often being an introvert. However, when you really think about it, every time you meet someone, whether online or in-person, you are networking. Furthermore, everyone has a story — and no matter how young or old they are — they know something that you don’t. This thought alone often intrigues me to the point of opening up, even when I’m not in a networking mood. The key is to tend to new and old relationships as necessary to keep your circle (your access to information and growth) nourished and not decaying away.
