Thanks for sharing your story with us Debra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved makeup and fashion. Even when I was young (before my parents would let me wear makeup), I would read everything I could about makeup application — because YouTube didn’t exist yet — to try to learn everything I could about it. When I started doing makeup myself, I would find pictures I liked and try to mimic the makeup (again, YouTube didn’t exist yet, so there were no beauty bloggers teaching people their techniques), and realized how much I loved it.
I have always loved telling my friends about my favorite products and makeup techniques, so I finally decided to start blogging, so I could share my love for fashion and makeup with even more people! Now, I have a YouTube channel of my own, as well as an Instagram page where I share my pictures, videos, and tutorials, and a blog.
Has it been a smooth road?
Blogging definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Sometimes, it gets discouraging when you compare your success to the success of others. It can also be hard to find the time to create content and juggle that with having a full-time job, but I truly love blogging and creating tutorials, so I find that the reward is worth the obstacles.

As a makeup and fashion blogger, I love making fun makeup tutorials and writing about fashion. I think my fun, goofy approach sets me apart from others since I think makeup should be fun and want my followers and subscribers to be entertained while they learn about makeup.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think LA is a great place for beauty and fashion bloggers, since a lot of people here are creatives and content creators, and because there are a lot of events here for bloggers, providing lots of opportunity to network. But the great thing about blogging is that you can do it from anywhere, so I think people should start wherever they are, with whatever they have! Never wait until you think conditions are “perfect,” because if you do, you’ll never start.
