Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAmber Parker.
DeAmber, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In high school, I always wanted to be a psychologist then I took a class and was so bored. One day one of my sisters told me about Public Relations Experts and I thought that was what I was going to do. I would do every project based on PR and I told everyone that was what I wanted to do. After graduating high school, I went to PCC and joined a program called UJIMA (one of the best things to happen to me). I had the pleasure of meeting amazing people who helped me with my journey in the entertainment industry and made me grow an even bigger passion for the industry. While at PCC, I would do events at the Dave and Busters in Arcadia. Artists from Pasadena, Monrovia and Duarte would come out and perform their music. After doing this, I realized that I was tired of being in a “traditional” college and wanted something more specific to what I do. I left PCC and went to LA Film School. At LA Film School, I started to learn more about the industry and grew a love for other parts of the industry that wasn’t public relations.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. A lot of the times things fall through in the industry and you have to restart your plan. The entertainment industry is a lot of “who you know” so if you don’t know anyone it can be challenging but to fix that, you can start by networking and building relationships.
Pacific Tunes Entertainment – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pacific Tunes Entertainment is a company for independent artists. We help provide independent artists with resources so they can be better independent artists and gain more supporters. We register their music so if possible they can be nominated for billboard charts and Grammys. We put them on music playlist and help out with social media, marketing and whatever else the artist may need. We will also be doing events when we are allowed to. We like to do the background work so the artist can focus on their music only.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
The way I define success is based off my own life. I don’t compare myself to anyone because we have all went through different things in life. If I’m meeting the goals I set for myself I think I am being successful. I want to be recognized as someone who always does her best and tries her hardest to achieve her goals, and does achieve her goals.
