Meet Damien March

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damien March.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Damien. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always had a love of the visual arts, studying fine arts at Monash University in Australia and then moving into visual education. Art remained and hobby for me until about two years ago personal circumstances changed my perspective on life. Changes occurred in within my family life, dad was diagnosed with dementia and mum had a severe stroke. Faced with these challenges I began to question my existence in the world, God has given me a talent but I am not using it, and I didn’t want to turn around in 20 years and have regrets. I began by going back to my childhood and just sketching for fun, and posted these on social media. This then transcended into painting again and having my first solo show in 15 years. After this first show, I had a feeling of belonging and at ease with the world, I had found my direction. I felt like a true professional artist and from here have had four solo shows in two years. My upcoming show “Technique” will be my fifth show since 2017, it will be showing from June 14-21 at 9507 S. Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills.

Has it been a smooth road?
Creating the art is the easy part, having to deal with galleries can often be difficult. I have had some galleries delay payments for sold works, while some gallery owners can be extremely difficult. Selecting the right gallery or exhibition space is very important and can have its challenges.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Damien March specializes creative, unique, original in fine art paintings. The visual experience is heightened through the usage of a range of media such as resin, pumice, sand, acrylic paint and inks on canvas. Built environments form the inspiration and placing the viewer within the composition, scale and perspective are often dynamic. Thick gestural paint contrasts with glistening, reflective resin creating unique and creative surface qualities. Having four successful shows over the past two years has undoubtably been the most proud moment of the company and achieving a sense of recognition in the art community.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Like all businesses growth and reaching a wider market is the primary objective. Creating other avenues such as limited edition prints and making my art more accessible is important. International markets will be reached with other exhibitions such as an upcoming show in Venice, Italy.
