Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin Deane.
Colin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was influenced by music at a young age. My dad gave me a piano for Christmas after his girlfriend at the time saw I gravitated toward music. In my school years, I found musical theater and used my growing love for music and poetry to escape rough and challenging times.
After school, I made a shift from musical theater to singer/songwriter. With a growing “Come As You Are” attitude, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my own path. I’m composing and creating my own music and performing on the LA circuit. I’m working in my studio on my soon to be released E.P.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Music has taught me more about myself than any other outlet I’ve experienced. I got out of my head and started to enjoy the journey rather than wanting to be at the destination already. I was always impatient, and lost, trying to find out who I really was. Music has been monumental in my journey as an artist and as a person.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
My main focus is writing and singing songs about my journey, yea it’s nice to get the stuff off my chest and writing songs is a great outlet, but also I hope it helps someone out there whose going through something similar.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been lucky, I’ve come in contact with the right people, who have great connections, who encourage me to continue and who are driven like myself. Here is LA is important to have a solid core of friends that support each other.
What do you like about this city? And what do you dislike?
I like the diversity LA has, we have a lot of people from all walks of life here. It makes this city that more magical when we can all get along, celebrate our similarities but embrace our differences.
