Today we’d like to introduce you to Cimone Holloway.
Cimone, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my legal journey at the University of Arizona in the year 2014. My area of interest was the legal field, so I majored in pre-law. I woke up daily eager to attend class and learn all that the James E. Rogers School of Law had to offer me. I graduated from the UA 1 year early in 2017 as a member of many honor societies and with an academic honors distinction award presented directly from the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
While in school and during my summer and winter breaks, I interned with the Law Office of J. Blacknell and assisted Mr. Blacknell with many of his criminal proceedings. Today, that time I spent in the courtroom was one of the best experiences I have ever had the chance to go through.
Spending my time in the legal field encouraged me to really tailor my career goals to working in areas of law. To enhance the knowledge I gained from the University of Arizona, I decided in the year 2019 to obtain my Master of Studies in Law degree from the illustrious University of Southern California. There I took many legal courses that were both review and new knowledge. After graduating, I had a strong understanding of drafting and understanding contracts and legal writing, which led to the birth of Beverly Virginia Consulting Services LLC.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road for my journey has not been perfect, like most. In fact, my journey is still continuing. There was one point where I felt like I knew what was best for my journey. I was certain I was supposed to be in law school right out of undergrad, and I scored extremely low on my Law School Admissions Test three times! It simply was not the time to attend law school, but the many times I received news of a low score, I allowed it take me into a space of depression. This was a major struggle for me because at 22 years old, I felt as if I did not have my life together, which is crazy because this time is when you are just figuring life out. This was when I decided to work towards my master’s degree; I knew law was my calling, but I was simply unsure exactly what I was supposed to be doing in that field.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Beverly Virginia Consulting Services LLC is a business that was created to help future and pre-existing business owners with their legal documents to the extent that my degree allows. Many businesses should have waivers or liability forms in place, and most individuals have no idea how to write one. My master’s degree from USC allowed me to gain the proper knowledge to assist in drafting these documents. In addition, from watching my mother run her preschool business and assisting with the some of her administration items, I was able to incorporate business plan drafting and other areas of business development into BVCS LLC.
What were you like growing up?
My mom will tell you that I have always been the child to strive to be the best at what she does. If I start something, my number one goal is to finish and to finish strong. I have always been academically driven, a continuous honors student since the age of two when I was first identified gifted. My overall personality is a fun one, which makes my sessions with my clients warm and comfortable.
