Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Freeman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi there! I’m Ciara Rose Freeman; a Communications and Journalism college student, world traveler, actor, INFJ and cat lover. Born and bred in Virginia Beach, Virginia to a loving single mother, I relocated to Los Angeles in pursuit of my goals to attend university and to continue pursuing my passions of acting and writing.
For high school, I attended a Global Studies and World Languages Academy where I was able to study abroad in countries such as Spain, France, Costa Rica and Estonia. Through these experiences, I learned the beautiful Russian, Spanish and Italian languages. Perhaps my greatest accomplishment was my selection as a Gates Millennium Scholar – a full-ride scholarship funded by Bill and Melinda Gates up to my doctorate level in college. This news reinforced my faith that I was meant for something greater, something more meaningful. Today, I am living the life of my dreams and forging my own path while enjoying the journey.
Ultimately, I believe in the power of media, storytelling and developing connections. Although, I have several interests including acting, blogging, journalism, fashion and travel, my biggest goal is for my digital platforms to inspire others to achieve greatness; life will always fall into place with a secure trust in God, consistent positivity, some amazing travels and a lot of delicious food.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course not. The move to Los Angeles itself was pretty rocky. I definitely underestimated the amount of funds needed not only survive but to thrive here, the amount of work and effort it takes to do absolutely anything and the amount of strength needed to stay the course through rejection. It requires a special ability to look beyond the present moment, to remain positive and remember why the journey began in the first place.
No matter the journey, there will always be challenges. One thing I have learned throughout this time, is that there is significant growth in times of darkness. I moved to LA at eighteen – a time where I was still figuring out who I was, what I stood for and what I planned to become. The amount of maturity I have developed from then to now (at twenty) is significant and I credit this growth to my willingness to step out of my comfort zone in Virginia, pack my entire life into boxes and take a major risk.
My mother and I always had a plan. We never took uncalculated risks – we dreamed, wrote, developed, facilitated, worked for, enacted and eventually accomplished our goal to move to Los Angeles. Though, there were a few surprises and setbacks, we are constantly able to compromise and move forward and we find solace in the idea that God will never present us with anything we cannot handle.
Please tell us about Ciara Freeman.
As a working tech savvy individual and entertainment/food connoisseur, I regularly document my experiences through Instagram and my personal website to an audience of over 3,500. As a result, companies have found my content engaging and I have had the privilege of partnering with several prominent brands such as Milk & Eggs, Amabie Beauty, Simple Loose Leaf Tea and Kavu. My content has also been republished to the social media accounts of several companies.
I’ve also served as a public relations and digital/social media intern for companies such as BLAZE PR, Stanton & Company, and ROAR Studios. As an actor, I secured a commercial agent in 2018 and have been featured in several short films and television series. From being in the industry, I’ve also had the opportunity to attend several red carpet premieres, meet successful actors and comedians, attend film festivals and exclusive screenings.
Beginning my endeavors with no assistance or guidance from connections, I feel the most proud that I was able to grow my following organically and creatively. My blog is one that promotes God, goodness, wholesome youth, education, style, travel, food and beauty. It is the perfect place for college students, actors, writers and all creatives to draw inspiration from. I never wanted to limit myself, so there is a little something for everyone.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, if I had to start over, I wouldn’t have done much differently because I believe that regardless of the methods by which we achieve something or not, it was meant to happen that exact way. However, if I was able to completely shape the outcome, I definitely would have started my planning earlier and had a job lined up outside of school. Additionally, I would have started taking acting more seriously in high school and would have become involved in more theatrical productions and work sessions to perfect my craft. I also wish I had begun building my brand through YouTube, as countless influencers and creatives got their start through that platform.
