Meet Cheryl Arzewski of It’s Organized in Manhattan Beach and Brentwood LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Arzewski.

Cheryl, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was a kid, I was a master of making a mess. Every night, my mom would say, “Cheryl, everything has a home, please put your stuff back where it belongs.” Looking back, beyond the organized closets, finding things in my childhood home was never a frustrating task. Systems simplified everything! We never wasted time searching for lost things. (Interesting fact: Did you know the average person wastes a FULL YEAR of their lives looking for lost items!) This philosophy, that everything in your home has a home, is at the heart of our business today.

Subconsciously, I think growing up in a highly-organized environment impacted the direction of my career. After college, I attended Columbia University for a doctorate in Organizational Behavior and worked in many Fortune 500 companies, working to make both companies and executives more efficient and productive. While this work was fulfilling, I was still searching for my dream job.

I spent my free time thinking about how homes could be designed and organized more efficiently. This obsession became my passion. And this got me thinking, why can’t everyone enjoy the same sense of calm and order that I’ve experienced? Over dinner one evening, I shared my ideas with my dear friend (now business partner) Jordan Marks. Her experience in the ‘organizational’ world complemented mine. Our ideas turned into endless possibilities of how and what we can do to help people get organized. And that’s when IT’S ORGANIZED was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success never is! We’ve had a lot of bumps along the way, but we learn from each one. And just when you think the road is perfectly paved, new speed bumps appear.

One of our biggest challenges is striking the balance of how to grow quickly without compromising quality. Quality has always been paramount. Growing more quickly requires overcoming any fear of risk. Growing too slowly causes companies to become stagnant and miss out on competitive trends. We’ve always recognized that our success is due to the personalized approach we take to each design and system we create for our clients. As a result, we’re constantly evaluating how to best train employees; how to best spend resources (i.e., marketing); and how/when to best delegate certain tasks without ever compromising our top priority: our clients.

IT’S ORGANIZED – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in custom design and organization solutions of all storage spaces, including closets, pantries, garages, playrooms, and more. We’re often brought in to consult on renovations, existing spaces and new builds – to help create spaces that are both efficient and beautiful. Combined with our move management services, this trifecta offers clients a comprehensive solution for all of their organizing needs. Our success has allowed us to grow to have offices in three states.

This full-suite of services is what sets us apart. Our clients can rely on us for every step of the process. We’re fortunate that our efforts have been rewarded, as referrals are our number one source of new business. No matter how large or small a project, we approach each one in the exact same fashion…efficiency in organization, focusing on the client’s needs first and always. Different strategies work for each client and our years of experience allow us to ask the right questions and gather the appropriate information so we can create a sustainable system that works for them. Seeing them maintain their organizational system, even years later, is an amazing feeling!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the ability to have a positive impact on the lives of others and inspire them to live happy healthy lives. Success is maximizing our potential and living each day with pride, passion and positivity. Success is the ability to balance being an entrepreneur, mom, wife, daughter, friend, member of the community, and do all of those well.
