Meet Chef Creole of Colormecreole in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Creole.

Chef Creole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey as a chef began when I was a teen. I would sometimes cook dinner for my family on weeknights after school. I’ve always enjoyed expressing my love, joy, and creativity through food. Even with my passion for cooking at a young age, I never imagined that it could be a real career. Four years ago, when I was 25 I was fired from an office job and found myself devastated, confused, and refusing to work for someone else ever again.

Around that time, I was frequently cooking on my Instagram and experimenting with different recipes. Many of my followers began to ask if they could try my food. About 3 1/2 years ago, I decided to sell creole pasta plates right out of my own kitchen. I made $600 that day. I decided then that I would go to school for cooking and start my own private chef company from the ground up. I began to sell plates out of a local open mike bar called unpluggedLA in Hollywood. From there, I did a few radio interviews, more marketing on Instagram and I began to get booked more and more. Often times by different celebrities in the NFL, NBA, and music industry. This journey has been nothing short of amazing. I love being able to create recipes and feed everyone delicious food they will never forget! I plan to grow my company into a larger catering company with multiple lead chefs each having their own team and following my recipes. Just wait on it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The first obstacle when starting this company was trying to get my family’s approval. It felt as though I had to separate myself from many loved ones along the way for different reasons mostly related to my path to becoming a chef.

One of my more recent obstacles has been finding trustworthy great sous chefs. I finally found an amazing chef that I can trust and truly trust her ability to handle my recipes. Her name is chef chardae. Together we take on multiple events at a time and I want to find more sous chefs just like her!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Colormecreole story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in creole or southern style food however I enjoy most when my clients order something different such as sushi or Indian food. That’s when I really get a chance to stretch my wings & fly. When I used to cook for celebrity marriage therapist Dr. V & her family nightly, I would take the time to learn their favorite dishes and recreate them most times even better than they expected.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t consider myself lucky however I manifest what I want. I write down my business goals and then I come up with a plan to execute them when you keep a positive mind and do the work you will always get “lucky”.
