Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmaine Carter and Nicole Hampton Peters.
Charmaine and Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our journey with PACE Run for a Cause begun with a realization of everything we know and love. We realized our strengths were in dealing with people, organizing events, and keeping a healthy lifestyle. We’ve always been in the background of fitness and health awareness events, however we were not the ones to stand out because our greatest passion was in serving people.
So one day it just happened, Charmaine decided that we too can do this, that we have enough experience to know what to put into these “visions” to make it a reality. It started with asking favors from friends, some were helpful and some were confusing, but that’s what you get for not paying for professional work. Eventually, from conversations and advice from others, together we created a brand we believed in and both of us equally have our inputs on how to attract more people to join us in helping others while staying fit.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
PACE initially was going to be something completely different from what it is. PACE Consulting was supposed to be more inclined towards Charmaine’s career in social work and finding other social workers who need help. However, change happens and we have to say it was for the better.
The original conceived PACE although in Charmaine’s wheelhouse, it was not her element. Charmaine struggled to build up the business because she didn’t fully understand it. After realizing that she knew whatever her business was going to be, it had to be in relation to fitness and health awareness. From that moment on everything fell into place and that’s when PACE Consulting was rebranded to PACE Run for A Cause, simple and straightforward.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with PACE Run for a Cause – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
PACE stands for setting your own pace to a healthy lifestyle. Our mission is to bring people together in creating public awareness of ideologies, social events, and even sensitive topics that individually is difficult to overcome but together as a community, we hope to make a difference. With the abundance of social media and the rapid changes around the world, it is easy for anyone to overlook the needs of those who don’t participate in voicing out their hardships. PACE aims to build that bridge by becoming the voice of those who don’t have the ability or the confidence to let the world know that they too need help.
PACE Run for a Cause specializes in creating dedicated runs each month to a specific cause affecting our community and finds deserving families who can benefit from the “gift” that would help them through their difficult circumstances.
PACE Run for a Cause is known for always being a friend to individuals with special needs and varying social demographics. We encourage these individuals to be involved in creating social learning opportunities for everyone in their community by being present and showing that “can do” attitude we always admire, as well as invite those who share the same interest in extending human kindness.
Our runs allow all participants, regardless of ability, to have fun, exercise, and help make a difference in the community.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
PACE plans to continue with its Annual PACE Run for a Cause Mother’s Day Autism Awareness 5k/10k Fun Run/Walk. This is a fun event as we have entertainment, food trucks, bounce house, clowns, and expo booths to give information to the community.
Our plans with virtual runs are to become global. Our goal is to raise funds to donate at minimum 50% to nonprofit and charitable institutions. These nonprofits will demonstrate a commitment to helping individuals become aware of their health today so that the community as a whole can help fight the statistics of tomorrow. PACE makes the dream work!
PACE intends to grow our active participation to 200+ joining in on our cause on a monthly basis.
Future plans, PACE will be known nationwide, and in the planning phase of mapping out hosting our Pace Run for a cause race internationally.
