Meet Cesar Ponciano of Minty Tees in Covina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Ponciano.

Cesar, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2012 we wanted to start a company which would facilitate the selling of merchandising for bands and local music acts. We looked for tee shirt decorating companies which did not have minimum order requirements but could not find any, at least none which were reliable.

It was then that we decided to get into that business for ourselves and Minty Tees was born.

We opened up several online retail stores, including MINTYTEES.com and everything took off from there. We now ship to over 70 countries around the world.

In 2015, we outgrew our first location and moved to a retail location where walk-ins are always welcome. We now have regulars who order single pieces without ever having to worry about quality.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We did struggle with logistics, a lot. From where to position machinery for the least amount of friction to production to hiring the right people.

Unfortunately, we have gone through more employees than I’d like to admit but in the end, it has made us a stronger company.

Minty Tees – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in single garment printing using Direct To Garment printers (DTG). This relatively new technology provides the freedom to print only 1 garment or 100, or 1000. It also requires no set ups and that is very helpful to the customers who just want 1 or 2 shirts for a work event or concert.

We also handle large runs for screen printing, embroidery, and heat pressed vinyl.

According to Yelp and face to face reviews, we are known for quick turnaround times, friendly atmosphere, and a willingness to make the customer happy with the end result.

What I am most proud, as a company is how well we do with customers. Although I know that you can’t please all of the people all of the time, I know that we have come pretty close!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
When I reflect, it has been a series of proud moments. Learning the ins-and-outs of the garment decorating industry from 0. I am also proud of all of the business skills I improved upon as well as acquired.
