Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Burke.
Caroline, please share your story with us.
I grew up in Westfield, NJ, and left to attend Skidmore college in New York and London School of Economics in England. After graduating I moved to NY working in the media industry as a spokesperson for several major corporations. I honed my camera skills by attending the William Esper Acting academy. My career took me to many cities all over the world including Madrid, Hong Kong, Taipei and Los Angeles. While in LA, I decided to follow another creative passion, the art of interior design. Determined and having the uncanny ability to multitask I worked for Maison Luxe and then was recruited by the design company, Bountiful based in Venice to work with a celebrity clientele. I founded Caroline Burke Designs Inc. in 2007 in Manhattan Beach and thru hard work, dedication and a great work ethic we become one of the premier interior design firms of Southern California.
We work with some of the most prominent projects in the Southbay but our firm maintains a boutique feel. When you hire CBD, you hire your design family dedicated to the success of your project. We are a design team committed to making sure that the end result of your home exceeds your expectations!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Building a business requires long hours, pure dedication and you end up giving up a lot of your social life or free time to work on the business. The business started small and step by step has grown. We have earned our reputation project by project. The success we have today has been earned over a decade of hard work, a dedicated staff and a firm commitment to customer satisfaction. Every day we learn more and every year we get even better. Even through the economic downturn, while most interior design firms were closing their doors CBD remained very busy and I believe this is a sign of trust from our clients and the strength of the firm.

We are a boutique, full service interior design Company. We offer services for new builds and also interior decorating services for homes that are already built. For New builds, we work hand in hand with the architect and builder on designing the interior look of the home based on the client’s needs and preferences. We also specialize in the interior design and decorating of the home when it is already built. This is the design phase that makes the room ‘look and feel” the way it should. Our philosophy at CBD is that ” a good design supports a happy, healthy lifestyle, and we treat everyone’s home as if it is ours” Beautiful, comfortable, durable, timeless interior design is what we provide for our clients. Quality products and excellent customer service is the formula for our success.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me has been the ability to have a company that I am are very proud of. I am very proud of the success of Caroline Burke Designs. I am very proud of my team. I am very proud of all the hard work we have dedicated in order to become a successful firm. We are a humble interior design firm with a boutique atmosphere. We have a wonderful variety of clients that range from families to celebrities and it is a very nice balance.
Success is when I am told by my clients how happy they are to live in a home that we have designed.
Success is the ability to get up each morning and go an office that you love going to and working on what you love. There is no other job for me……. I am doing exactly what I should be doing!
