Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Bringas.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carl. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The one question I am most often asked: “How did you get started in photography?” Well, many moons ago, when I was a wee little boy, I was one of six children, we all had our roles within the family craziness. If you have ever seen the TV show, “The Brady Bunch,” my sibling pack of 3 boys and 3 girls, we lived every episode prior to its airing on TV nationwide!! My roll, not sure if handed to me or otherwise, was the “tech nerd”. Which in those days meant, I had to plug the VCR into the TV! However one fateful day my father bought a new camera for family use to which I, the tech nerd, was in charge!! My brothers, sisters and I had no idea the power this camera would yield in the hands of the Nerd. I laugh because no one wanted to touch that thing and mess up photos or break it. I shortly got the hang of how to create images (as in well-exposed images!). And with that knowledge came the power. My two brothers being 3 and 4 years my senior, I was the “tag-along” brother, who was always wanting to do what they were doing. My big break came when they entered high school where I quickly noticed my brother’s football teammates wanting me to take photos of them during games. Then there were the cheerleaders. To this day, my dad laughs at the thought that I took more photos of the “sideline action’ than of my brothers on the field… Oh well, gotta go where the action and demand is, right?!
So a long story short, I started when I was young and I loved it. But it took a long time, and many different professions before I started my career as a professional photographer. I often think that because I was a painfully shy child, this helped me tremendously because I was an observer. I was taking photos even before I had a camera in my hands… It was just in my mind.
One day, a friend of mine, a pro photog, needed someone as a second shooter in a wedding and asked if I wanted to give it a try. It was perfect. I knew where to be. I anticipated. I knew possible moments and waited for them to happen. I was a kid all over again and it as if they could not see me – I was behind the shield of a camera.
Today I am mostly a wedding photographer however I do headshots, fashion some architectural and I love it all. I really under a spell with photography and I am always learning something new, be it gear, technique or about myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
The smooth road is the road you take home after going to the fair and spending all day on the roller-coaster. I have to remind myself of these things because success can only happen after hard work. Success is a funny thing. It changes all the time as to what that word means to me. I am a father now and success is measured differently than when I was 20 years old. I think one should work on being a success all their lives and then one day you can ask yourself that question to which only then can it be answered in full.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Carl Bringas Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Los Angeles, is there really any place like it? I grew up here and I love it. I really feel every place is unique and has its own vibe. None better than other but yet its own vibe. I love that I can grab any ethnic food at any time of day or night. May sound odd but all the little things, I love it. There may be too may photographers so maybe we need to work on that (okay, you know I am kind of joking, right?).
