Meet Cara Barone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara Barone.

Cara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story isn’t glamorous, my business was created from brokenness and despair! Four years ago, I moved from California to London for my career as a Consultant at LinkedIn. I couldn’t wait to say, “I’m heading to Paris for dinner.” And while my European travels were marvelous, my health took a plunge for the worse almost immediately upon arrival. My energy quickly began fading, and soon the two things that defined me, work and working out, were slowly taking away from me.

Years later, I found out I was suffering from mold toxicity and breast implant illness. But it was a long 3.5 years.

It was during my darkest days that I knew I had to do something productive, laying around my flat was not helping my mental health. I embarked on a 12-month health coaching journey. Pretty quickly after graduation, I realized that health coaching wasn’t my true passion, but using my consulting and marketing background to help corporate women bring their years of experience and skills online was!

This marked the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. It hasn’t been an easy or pretty one, but it has fueled me to help women show up exactly as they are and know that they have a gift to share with the world. Not because they’re perfect or have it all together, but because hard work, passion, and consistency always win.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a bumpy, emotional rollercoaster to say the least! Despite the health challenges, entrepreneurship, in general, is a rollercoaster. Constant thoughts of: “am I good enough?” “can I actually replace my corporate salary,” “is this sustainable?!” are always running through your head. I always thought if I just had an exact blueprint, I would be successful, but the reality is (no matter how many coaches claim to have it) there is no exact step-by-step blueprint for success. The only reason I am successful and have impacted 100’s of women today are because I have learned to embrace failure. I have failed a lot. And fast (that’s my motto: fail, fail fast). I’ve invested in the wrong coaches, programs, and ads that flopped. There have been so many times I’ve wanted to throw in the towel, but I never gave up! And won’t 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I help high achievers un-learn the corporate hustle to scale their online business without burnout through: high-performance habits + scaling strategies + magnetic confidence. I help two types of women 1) those are just starting their business and want to take their corporate skills online or 2) those who have left their 9-5 and want to scale beyond their corporate salary.

What sets me apart is (well, besides being crazy little ole me!) is I don’t know any entrepreneurs who have been able to replace their corporate salary online while still working full-time. It’s definitely been a lot of work, but I have somehow managed to juggle it all while traveling to 1-2 new countries every month! I have also lived in the US, UK, and Australia, and pride myself on creating global communities where women from all walks of life can be fully themselves and thrive.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Competing and winning our division finals for basketball was a childhood memory I will never forget. Basketball was my greatest love affair of all time (don’t tell my future husband). I grew up living, eating, breathing basketball and aspired to be like Mike (Jordan, that is). I attribute the majority of my adult skills (work ethic, leadership abilities, and need for a dream team) all to basketball. Looking back, it’s funny to think that years of training, blood, sweat, and tears all went into that one final game. But it was worth it! To end up on top during my senior year of school was a memory that I will never forget!
