Meet Brittany Steele

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Steele.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was working in the legal field for seven years from the receptionist to paralegal and even almost went to law school before I became a licensed esthetician. I knew I did not want to give someone else control over how much money I can make ever again. One of my friends started doing lashes about five years ago and told me I should do the same to be able to make my own hours and control my salary. I looked into how to legally do this in California and by the end of 2018, I had graduated and became licensed as an Esthetician.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely been bumpy. We’re so used to someone keeping us in a box of what we can and cannot do as far as work goes. So becoming my own boss was trying at times. You have to discipline yourself and stay on top of tasks. I only had five solid clients before I decided to rent my studio and I took a huge leap of faith. Thank God for my friends and family because that’s the only way my business grew to what it is today and continues to grow.

Please tell us about B. Steele Skin/Lashed by Steele.
I specialize in facials, lashes and waxing. I focus a lot on people of color because our Fitzpatrick is unfortunately, not standard in the skincare industry here in America. I’m proud to be able to help people feel more confident in their own skin. What sets me apart from others is that I’m constantly researching new and innovative methods to achieve the best results for my clients, whether it’s skin or lashes.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is eating spaghetti in front of the TV while watching Martin with my mom.
