Meet Brittaney Carpenter of Brittaney For Your Face in Agoura Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittaney Carpenter.

Brittaney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I would say it all started when I was 17 years old and booked my first wedding where I did makeup, even though I really had no clue at the time that it would lead me here today. All my life I was very interested in makeup, I had fun applying it on all my friends and family members but never really thought of it as a career always just something fun that I enjoyed.

What I always thought I wanted was to be in the fashion industry, so after I graduated high school I started college at FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in San Francisco and then transferred down to Los Angeles a year later to graduate down here. I thought living in Los Angeles would give me better opportunities in the fashion industry. Well for me it didn’t really work that way. I really struggled to get jobs in the fashion industry but somehow always found myself back in the beauty industry. I have found myself in all different forms of the beauty industry from freelance makeup, to receptionist at a salon, to corporate special projects manager for a pro makeup line to even a beauty school. The beauty school is what really opened up this whole new world to me and after working there 3 years, paid for me to go get my Esthetician license. Even when I was in school and after I got licensed I fought the idea that it would actually be possible for me to ever be a full time Esthetician. All I knew was in the back of my mind I loved brows, skin, and all things makeup so I decided after 2 years of being licensed to quit my corporate job and with the support of my husband “jumped off a cliff” and rented my own space in a salon.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some would call me a risk taker, while others would call me an over thinker. When making the jump to become a full-time esthetician and be essentially my own boss I risked a lot. I walked away from what I considered to be normal; my paycheck, my benefits, my paid time off and I only had (x) amount of money to make this work. I started at the salon in mid-September 2016 and gave myself until January to build a clientele to keep me busy enough to be able to stay. January meant I was out of money and would have to start looking for a job again, a type of job that I knew I couldn’t go back to after being introduced to what I could be doing. I had to make it happen, it was very emotional and hard in the beginning but I just keep going and knew that it all had to pay off and it had to work.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Brittaney For Your Face story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a licensed Esthetician that offers, facial waxing, custom facials, organic & chemical peels, lashes, makeup. What I am most known for and love doing is BROWS! I think what sets me apart from others is it’s all personal for me. I remember each one of my clients and their goals whether it is skin goals, lash goals, or brow goals. Each one of my clients is the most important part of my job. I like to make each of them feel special and every service I offer is customized to them. I take my time, I get to know them, and I’m meticulous at what I do.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I just want to keep growing and expanding my business, and see where it takes me. I think that is the most exciting part of my industry is the fact that it is constantly changing and there are so many different directions I can go. I will be excited to see where I am in 5-10 years.
