Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Rubin.
Hi Bri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a Human Design specialist, artist, yoga teacher and coach.
I grew up in a homogenous Boston suburb and then attended college in Vermont. Upon graduating in 2017 with a degree in Psychology and Art, instead of applying for grad school or settling down with a job as my strait-laced family had hoped, I booked a one-way ticket to Nicaragua and proceeded to improvise my way around Latin America. I stayed at intentional communities, taught yoga and painted murals. I also worked at a plant medicine retreat center.
I had just left the retreat center unexpectedly (a story for another day) when I stumbled upon a job posting by a mainstream global Jewish organization that surprisingly piqued my interest. The description read, “Are you ready to reimagine and redesign Jewish life on college campuses?” I felt inspired and intuitively called to apply so I did. I completed my application in between ayahuasca ceremonies in a teepee in southern Ecuador.
I spent the spring adventuring around Ecuador and Colombia with periodic video interviews in small internet cafes and hostel lobbies. In April, I accepted a job offer, and a few months later, I moved to Los Angeles.
Entering the Jewish nonprofit sector was certainly a plot twist, and in a sense, it represented intentionally diving headfirst into everything I had been trying to run away from- and I deem it an overall successful experience! I matured a lot, created some beautiful memories and connections, and I was grateful for the opportunity to learn about my roots.
When I first saw my Human Design chart in November 2019, I felt waves of truth resonate throughout my entire being. Though my logical, skeptical mind was not quick to trust, a deeper part of me knew that this was the knowledge I had been yearning for my whole life; I became obsessed with learning everything I could. By this time, my job was driving me crazy and I was praying for some sort of natural disaster, or perhaps a public health crisis to set me free…
In August 2020, I was hired by MyBodyGraph and the Jovian Archive, the official library of primary source Human Design materials. It’s been a dream to work so close to the source as I dive deep into my own HD experiment while initiating and guiding others along theirs!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In Human Design, the 3rd line is known as the Martyr and it learns through trial and error. I have a 3rd line body, which means that my process, in life and in business, naturally includes a great deal of messiness, bonds made and broken, bumping into things and making mistakes. I have to first uncover everything that doesn’t work in order to discover what does.
My greatest struggle has probably been trying to figure out how to function in a culture and educational system that assumes we should all be able to work in the same way. I was dependent on ADHD medication for over a decade. Breaking free from this, both the pills as well as the narrative has been no easy feat!
Now, I am the most focused, peaceful and fulfilled I’ve ever been. It’s been liberating to realize that there’s nothing “wrong” with me, I was just trying to operate in a way that I am not designed to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I live and breathe Human Design; it is the primary lens through which I filter life. I work for the family of Ra Uru Hu, the system’s late founder- I pride myself on my integrity, and I am fiercely passionate about the accurate transmission and undiluted evolution of this knowledge.
I give Human Design readings and I also offer ongoing integrative coaching to support your deconditioning process. Using your design as a map, I teach embodiment practices that deepen awareness, enhance pleasure and awaken dormant creativity.
My sessions are a blend of art and science, logical analysis and feeling. I am trained by Human Design America in how to synthesize all the different aspects of your chart in a digestible fashion and how to weave together keynotes to impact cellular transformation. I balance this with deep listening and heart-centered intuition- as I could share about each chart endlessly, I sense which elements will be most supportive and empowering to explain versus what will only distract. I practice somatic coaching techniques to help you truly connect to your embodied knowing, bringing this information out of the realm of mind and into your actual lived experience.
What’s next?
This upcoming May, I will be offering integration support using Human Design at a plant medicine retreat, a dream come true! I intend to manifest more collaborations like this.
I am about to begin a 6-month high-level Apprenticeship Program with Desire on Fire, a company that specializes in women’s intimacy coaching. Not only am I a participant, but I will also be giving all of the HD readings for this program.
I am also a new member of the IAM Code, a combination of intuitive art school and business incubator. I am growing as an artist and learning how to share and monetize my artwork.
