Meet Bonnie Dolan and Joe Resnick of SandErase in Laguna Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Dolan and Joe Resnick.

Bonnie and Joe started SandErase after each had raised a family and were newly divorced. With tenacity and a fierce work ethic, SandErase was invented. Living in Laguna Beach, They were constantly entertaining their children and grandchildren. The one comment we always heard was “there’s SAND everywhere.”

Bonnie would always remark how she wished there was a way to “leave the sand at the beach.” After a bit of research, SandErase was born, with an eager group of testers (Bonnie and Joe have a large family with four legged ones too) the right product emerged.

The best products are always the ones that solve the simplest of problems. How to remove sand from just about anything and not harm the environment? SandErase was designed to do just that. Remove Sand. We experimented with many types of mesh, and through much trial and error we stumbled upon a textile mill in N.J., they make netting for the commercial fishing industry.

With the help of the owner we were off and running. Lucky for me is that my partner is a photographer/graphic designer by trade. With the help of our children we launched ourselves into Social Media; Instagram, Facebook, etc. Built an e-commerce website and got packaging done.

We always find it amazing that everyone who has used our Sanderase always has a positive remarks and say things like, “why didn’t I know about this before” or “why didn’t I invent this.”

Who knew that adversity and desire go hand in hand if you were to ask if this was the plan all along? I would have to say life sometimes surprises you regardless of what you think it will be.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth is a relative term, Not sure the journey would be as exciting or rewarding if it was smooth sailing all the time. One time I remember we had ordered custom boxes only to find that all the seams had opened the next day.

Or the time we visited the manufacturer of our SandErase only to find we needed to redo our initial design to make it easier to manufacture. Like they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, we are learning every day what not to do. That’s probably as important as knowing what to do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SandErase – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
SandErase is a sand removing cloth; it works on people, pets and things, i.e., surfboards, volleyballs, coolers, water bottles, etc. We source everything domestically and do our best to make sure we don’t endanger our oceans and beaches with harmful additives.

We realize that we need to support and participate in our small business community and to provide a domestic solution to a simple problem.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
To expand awareness of SandErase nationally and globally thru social media and retail marketing. Attend some related events to promote our product Volleyball tournaments, Surfing events, etc.

Gather sponsors for Sanderase like lifeguards, surfers, volleyball players. Contribute to charities that would benefit from our product.
