Meet Ani Duzdabanyan-Manoukian of Bubblybite in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ani Duzdabanyan-Manoukian.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
By training I am a journalist and information is the key to everything for me. Therefore when my first child was born, I started to pay more and more attention to what is there in the market for kids as a snack or baked goods (kids love sweets). I realized that almost everything that is being sold in stores, including healthy stores, is full of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and so many other ingredients that are so harmful to all of us and especially to young and developing organisms. I started to bake, find recipes, modify them, reduce sugar, replace it with more natural choices, find healthier replacements for wheat and so much more just to get my family’s favorite sweets at home. In my country Armenia, where I am from, every house has one great baker. We rarely buy from stores and I grew up with the same motivation learning the basics from my mother. All my friends started to motivate me to make my passion into a business. My biggest motivation and help was my mother in law, who is a greatest cook I ever knew. With her help I founded Bubblybite a cottage food operator with a funny name where the taste of the real ingredients is the most important. Every baked goods we make is organic and natural without any artificial ingredients. Why do you need to buy a cookies from the marked that has an expiration date for two months with all the harmful stuff in it, when we can bake it for you completely healthy way that is good for at least two weeks! Every cookie we make has to be approved by my kids and family first, then go to the market. Bubblybite is being sold in Heritage Eatery, Siantos bakery and Pure Internal Fitness center in Glendale, CA, and through DishDivvy.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
First struggle was getting the approval from LA County as a CFO. It took us almost a year to get all the paperwork done and, most important, the labels that were being checked by ingredients and ingredients. Next step was finding the right market; there are lots of bakeries in LA area and convincing costumers to buy healthy products that is relatively high in price but healthier and better, could be a challenge. Fortunately we have very loyal and health conscious costumers.

Please tell us about Bubblybite.
We make any kind of cookies, breads, snacks, bars and even cakes. Everything is being made with fresh, natural and organic ingredients. We have vegan, keto and gluten free options. Our most famous cookies are Chocolate Crinkle Cookies made of 100 % unsweetened chocolate and organic cocoa powder, Pumpkin breads with pumpkin seeds and only so little sugar which allows to taste all the fall’s spices and pumpkin puree. Our Italian Biscotti is made with real orange peel and almonds, and it’s crunchy outside but surprisingly soft from the insight.

Our Coconut flour Chocolate Chips cookies are so good, that even my kids can’t tell that they aren’t made with regular flour. In two years Bubblybite created a reputation of an honest brand that is caring about everyone’s family’s wellbeing. Our products are not only healthy but delicious too and can be in kid’s lunchboxes and on the parent’s desert tables as well.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My mom, my aunts and grandmothers were great bakers. I always loved sweets especially during my favorite holiday Christmas; I was visiting their houses not for presents but for cookies and cakes that they were so generously making especially for that season.
