So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a professional photographer for almost 20 years! That always baffles everyone when I tell them that, because luckily, I inherited my mom and grandmothers genes with the young looking face, haha! I started this photography journey all because my grandfather handed me his 35mm camera when I was a young girl during a yearly trip to Canada. My Grandfather was my greatest mentor… an award-winning professional photographer in the Air National Guard, I am quite proud to follow in his footsteps, I looked up to everything he did. I am so thankful he handed me that camera!
I am the owner of my own self-made business as a fine art wedding and portrait photographer. I specialize in all styles of photography and I love making use of some great natural light and capturing true and real-life moments. I am definitely a light chaser!! Nothing beats that golden hour light… or that blue moon hour. I consider myself pretty blessed to be able to do what I am so passionate about for a living. I started working as a photographer at family photography studios and quickly branched out on my own!
I have a tremendous passion for children, animals and I believe I have a heart that sees beauty in absolutely everything.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been an up and down kinda road! During the recession, it was the hardest because photography services are definitely a luxury. People were even putting off weddings. Slowly but surely all of us luxury small business owners got back on our feet. Another obstacle was becoming a new mom! Learning the balance! I’ve definitely found my groove and I hope my little girl, Willow, really looks up to me one day and sees that hard work and determination pays off, never give up on your dreams! Today I couldn’t be more thankful and honestly, proud of myself!! And that’s ok!!
A large amount of my clientele comes from word of mouth and referrals, which is the best compliment ever. It is also a huge help in the advertisement department, not having to put a lot of money into it. It feels safer to people when they hear about a great experience as opposed to just finding someone off of the web! I am forever grateful for such loyal clients! It is the greatest feeling when I hear the words, “You came highly recommended by…”

I think what sets me apart from others is definitely my fun and open personality! Also, my honesty, integrity, and creativity are the most important characteristics to my success! I share relationships and become friends with my clients! After all, they are trusting me with such precious moments! The most special and amazing thing is, I get to see people grow and share their journeys with them! It starts with an engagement…. Then I see and capture them getting married, then I capture their pregnancy and the gift of their first child and birthdays. Then comes the next child!!! It is just amazing to witness, to watch people’s lives progress and blossom. It’s always such an honor for a couple to keep me around for years!
I specialize in weddings, maternity, newborn, families and special events! I have even photographed some concerts and shows! Capturing just about anything is always thrilling!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I absolutely LOVE my city and surrounding cities. I am minutes from the beach. I have hiking trails all around me that are surrounded by greenery and massive oak trees! There are so many special areas that it’s almost hard to pick a location with clients!! I am not in a busy city so sessions are pretty secluded from the crowd. The best part is, I am 30 mins from Hollywood! So if clients want that city shoot, it’s as easy as pie!
There isn’t anything that I do not like about where we are located. It’s perfect, beautiful and very family oriented!
