Meet Andrea Woods of Haul Away Bed Bug Prep

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Woods.

Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have worked in property management for over eight years. It is my passion to help others with housing and being a channel for those in my community to gain housing opportunities. I especially enjoy working in the South Central Los Angeles area, as this is where I was born and raised. My occupation has helped me live out my passion to help people live out happy lives through adequate housing.

This is how I came to offer a service in bed bug preparation. As a previous housing manager I have come across lots of residents that become infested with bed bugs, which happen to be some of the most difficult bugs to get rid of. Some residents have disabilities, are elderly or have other limitations that make it almost impossible to prep an apartment unit for bed bug fumigation.

Because of the way bed bugs infest and spread, it is vitally important to the residents that are have an infestation, to thoroughly clean and prep their units in order for pest control to treat. And pest control will not treat otherwise. A preparation will include laundering all linen items in the home, moving furniture from walls, dismantling the bed, and in some cases disposing of them, wiping all surfaces with alcohol, removing electrical covers, vacuuming all areas and heating some items, just to name a few. There is so much time and effort that goes into it, my residents sometimes would be left at a major disadvantage.

I searched high and low for a reasonable, and affordable solution in the California area with no luck. My husband and I were already in the cleaning services business and decided that we would add this service to help those that need help so dearly. This is how Haul Away Bed Bug Prep came to be. We love the look on our customer’s faces when we are able to bring peace of mind to them and or their loved ones.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have been blessed. Our process has been very smooth. Most people who are experiencing a bed bug infestation, want help, and want it right away. Our biggest struggle was being able to service our clients all “today”, because everyone wants help right now.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Haul Away Bed Bug Prep. – what should we know?
We are a cleaning service company that specializes in cleaning and prepping for bed bug fumigation. This is lengthy process that requires patience, care and a lot of love for what you do. We have to deal with people’s personal and private belongings, helping to debug them for fumigations.

We are so special because in the even that a person doesn’t take the proper steps in prepping for fumigation, they will most definitely have a re-infestation. These bugs unlike bugs like roaches bite you in your sleep. By the time we get to some of our clients, they have gone days without sleep. We use state of the art equipment, including hepa vacuums, and specialized heat tents.

I would say we are most proud of getting through some of our toughest cases. Sometimes residents will be hoarders, and have very unclean environments, where the bed bugs are crawling all over the walls. We are literally able to come in, declutter, clean and prep. We have had elderly client’s family members hug us in joy and relief for their family member. We do charge and extra fee for those difficult cases but none the less we get the job done!
