Meet Analicia Benavides

Today we’d like to introduce you to Analicia Benavides.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am an illustrator based out of Santa Clarita, CA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Communication Arts- Illustration.

In the pursuit of knowledge for art’s sake, I’ve had to overcome certain situations that most people could never think of handling. During my time at Otis College of Art and Design, I have had to get to school by any means necessary, whether it be riding two buses and two trains every morning, or driving nearly 3 hours each way just to get there. I’ve felt that I have always had to work harder to get where I need to be, so I push myself in everything that I do now. I do whatever it takes to get things done, and that perseverance and determination has made me into the artist I am today.

Please tell us about your art.
My art mainly consists of paintings that are done in acrylic paint on canvas, but I do make digital art and designs sometimes as well.

The inspiration for my artwork comes from my love for alternative pop culture, old inkblot style and 50’s style cartoons, horror, and psychedelic art. Tim Burton and the movie Alice in Wonderland are also a huge influence to my aesthetic.

The stories are built from what I think my alternate universe might look like-in surrealistic settings and maybe sometimes under the influence of mind-altering substances.

I’d like to think that when people look at my artwork, they are diving head first down into the rabbit hole of my own mind. Ultimately, I just want to make something different that is creepy, cute, and weird for people to enjoy every time.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Be punctual, be confident in your work, and never stop networking! You never know where you can get your next break from.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Check out my artwork on my Instagram @rabbitholedreams or on my website at rabbitholedreams.com. You can also buy merch by visiting my store that is also posted on my website, or going to the link rabbitholedreams.storenvy.com
