Meet Amanda Keidan of Keidan Jewelry in Venice Beach and Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Keidan.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2001, when I was just out of college and living in NYC, I was spending time in the metal studio blowing off steam while trying to try and figure out what I was doing with my life, little did I know that what I was doing in my free time to blow off steam WOULD BE the job I ended up with. So I made pieces from the heart and people noticed. One of those was a magazine editor who liked my jewelry and my background story and she wrote an article on me and that led to getting the best showroom in NYC to meet with me, they took me on, and the company was launched!

Has it been a smooth road?
The market has become more and more saturated over the years. It takes years to really understand stones, and stone settings, and diamonds and all the nuances that go into creating a really beautiful ring that will last in everyday wear. There is a real art that goes into the making of the piece. Eventually, anyone and their mother began hiring production people and creating jewelry and the market has just gotten really FULL.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We do a lot of custom designed commissions and are often designing pieces as a surprise –for an anniversary or engagement– and we have to figure out her dream piece without having her feedback. We are known for our jewelry ESP and have developed such a strong sense of what a woman wants, by seeing images and hearing a bit about her. We have literally nailed it every time.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. LA is a bustling cosmopolitan city and design is growing here and events happen all the time, so it is a great place to have a jewelry business.
