Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis and Chris Ramirez.
Alexis has worked in fashion for over ten years, working closely with the CEOs and Creative Directors of many of today’s top fashion brands. Her career launched when Ray Kelvin of Ted Baker saw a future in her, moving her out to NYC to launch a new HQ based in the US, outside of their already UK presence. She then moved to Ralph Lauren and eventually ended up in women’s contemporary as the assistant to CEO and Creative Director, Stacey Bendet of Alice of Olivia, taking her career to new lengths. She eventually moved on to learn the ins-and-outs of streetwear with Ronnie Fieg of Kith, one of New York’s hottest streetwear brands.
Chris originally began his career building products for a-list entertainment talent with the skunkworks team of William Morris Endeavor. After receiving his MBA, he launched two companies (a magnetic levitation company and a social ticketing platform for the electronic dance music industry) before joining Sonos to build out the Brand Innovation team. His role was to help transform the hardware company into a music company by collaborating with artists and exploring frontier technology. He then joined an early-stage startup, in stealth at the time, named Jet.com, eventually helping lead the company to a $3.3B acquisition by Walmart.
As both led hectic lives in the big city, their paths crossed when they both swiped right on a dating app called “The League”. One thing led to another and they leapt 6 months later, far away from their corporate lives, living abroad, detoxing from the 9to5, and focusing on what was really important. This journey has led them to create Superbloom.
Superbloom starts within – its about purpose, and taking a moment. Currently a lifestyle brand encompassing ten colors, ten meanings, ten original patterns, and supporting ten causes.
S = Self Loving
U = Unique
P = Passionate
E = Equality
R = Reflecting
B = Bold
L = Loyal
O = Offline
O = Optimistic
M = Mysterious
Superbloom was created as an alternative way to express ourselves and communicate with others through color, meaning, and original prints. Whether you’re striving to master one of these in your daily life, or showing that you already have, these ten timeless elements of expression equal a whole that we strive to be, Superbloom.
Sourcing closely with local partners and sustainably ethical resources, Superbloom has set out to grow something original, authentic, and timeless, true to those who are a part of the community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Too many to count! Most of this journey has been about “taking the leap”, listening to your gut, breaking traditional norms, finding out what truly makes you happy, dealing with people who may often be unreliable, managing stress levels, and finally learning to be patient. Though one of the most difficult challenges has revolved around relationships from the past – oftentimes, it’s natural to outgrow people. These past friends or family can do one of two things: Evolve, or stay stagnant and get left behind. Lastly, another struggle in starting any business is the concept of an “identity crises” – it’s not easy starting any business. Its easy to attach one’s self-worth to a secure company or brand they work for. But once you take a leap and shed these layers of comfort, you find your inner core and build outwards, fully embracing who you are and what truly matters in your life.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Superbloom – what should we know?
Superbloom is a private community. In order to access the community and its products, we ask you to choose a color or meaning you feel connected to and tell us why. This is “a moment” to ask yourself how you’re feeling. If you can get past this prompt, you receive a password to enter the site.
Our first product was inspired by Mexico City’s golden age. We created our first signature piece, “The Sombra Del Sol”. Colorful, heavier, and wider-brim than usual, this hat protects your from the sun, the rain, the wind, the dust, the fire, the cold, the norm. They are hand painted, cruelty-free, ethically sourced, water-resistant, and safely shade from the sun, in accordance with the Skin Cancer Foundation. Every piece is individually numbered. Only 300 pieces will be made per color.
Our second product is “The Everyday Tote”, a multipurpose, go-to bag. Structured, totally transparent, and made from heavy-weight PVC, this clear tote makes a terrific, lightweight alternative to heavy leather, standard canvass, or flimsy grocery bags. Perfect to reduce our carbon footprint as we focus on reusability.
Fanny Packs and Supima Cotton Unisex T-Shirts will be available soon.
Our next big focus revolves around Social Good, heavily focusing on community partnerships through an initiative called “CAUSES”:
S: Cancer Research
U: TBD
P: TBD
E: Planned Parenthood, LGBTQ, Women’s rights
R: Mental health, PTSD
B: Marine Life, Ocean Waste Prevention, Sustainability Research
L: Animal Shelters
O: National Parks, Environmental Initiatives

M: STEM, NASA and Space Discovery
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of course! No job, creation, or special project is truly ever done alone. Inspiration, words or wisdom and cheerleading have come in all shapes and forms. Some of our best supporters have been close mentors, family members, and new individuals who align on the same vibrational frequency that we’ve met along this journey. And obviously… each other!!!
