Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Kazenoff.
Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My brother Ben and I have been making music together since we were kids. We started off playing metal and then later started to branch off into other genres. In 2013, we decided to officially form a synth-pop band and see how far we could take it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our first obstacle was trying to get exposure. Although we got lucky with a couple of Spotify playlists, it’s hard to get noticed because the music scene is just so saturated. We got to a point where making music for the sole purpose of “making it” and the external validation of strangers took the fun out of the whole thing. Now that we’re making music just for ourselves, it’s been a lot more enjoyable.
The current challenge now is simply finding the time to make music in the first place. Now that we’re busy with school, relationships and financial responsibilities, it’s harder to carve out time for music.
