Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Maeweather.
Adrienne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always had a passion for helping others. No matter how big or small the deed, I enjoy going out of my way to put a smile on people’s faces. I, however was very unhappy with my work life so it affected my personal life. To an outsider looking in, I had a great job. I was making good money working for a small company in West Hollywood only 12 minutes from home.
I had great benefits and could pretty much take a vacation whenever I pleased, but something was missing. I was sitting behind a desk every day, entering invoices. I had no interactions with people except for my coworkers. It got to the point where I loathed waking up in the mornings because I knew I had to be to work. After having a long conversation with my aunt who is a successful realtor. I quit my job and pursued real estate full time.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most people who decide to go into real estate have no idea how much work it truly requires. The easy part is taking the test. Though it took me a while to focus on studying the material, I was able to pass the first time. Then I had to figure out what to do next. My aunt who has been very successful in real estate told me she would mentor me and we both hung our licenses at Keller Williams Brentwood. I was expecting to go right into selling a million dollar home under her mentorship, but that couldn’t be further from reality. In fact, I didn’t close my first deal until two years later. Becoming a realtor means you are an entrepreneur. I was unaware of my responsibilities at first and became frightened when I realized no check was going to come until I made it happen for myself. Unless you are on a team, you create 100% of your business. I put every penny I had until building my real estate business and though it took time, I’m happy I made the necessary sacrifices.
Please tell us about Keller Williams Inglewood.
I was born in South LA and lived there most of my life until I went to college. Once I moved back to California and started working, I began living in West Hollywood. Almost everything I do is in the West Hollywood area. I tended to stay in my small bubble for the most part until I moved my license to Keller Williams Inglewood. I began to spend more time in South LA and was quickly reminded how much of a gem this area is. I’m proud to work in the area where I’m from and get to know many of the small business owners. With the new stadium being built nearby as well as the metro station, the city is buzzing with fresh possibilities!
