Today we’d like to introduce you to Travon Smith. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Travon Smith a graduate from Cal State Los Angeles in 2008, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management. Started radio in 2007 as an intern for 93.5 KDAY FM in Los Angeles. After six months of interning, Travon was hired and moved up within the ranks in a competitive high paced environment. Shortly after being hired, he was named Production Director as well as Community Director which required an abundance of responsibility. With jobs pertaining to but not limited to; conducting artist arrangements and interviews, participating in creation of concerts, working with some of the most prominent names on air and dj’s, in which some are considered major influences and iconic within the radio world, also managing a commercial inventory over 7-8 million dollars, and being responsible of what hit airwaves with over millions of listeners in So. Cal.
In 2012 at 93.5 kday, he began connecting resources from kday with the community and partnered with a real estate program that helped first-time home buyers, specializing in financial literacy for minorities. Deciding to pursue other dreams; Travon began to study for his Real Estate License after the purchase and sale of his first home, in which he grew fond of as he learned more when he had the chance to help kday listeners.
With close to ten years in radio, as of 2016’, Travon decided to start his transition in life, as well as resign from kday and leave radio, starting a nonprofit, where he partnered with current and past NFL players, athletes, actors and entertainers to promote literacy and financial education.
Travon returned to fm radio on a one-year deal in 2020 as a co-host to a 30 min weekly FM show about financial literacy, real estate education. This is where he met Agents of LA’s own, Tai Savet.
Obtaining his Real Estate License in 2021 as well as purchase of his second home, Travon has set his eye and mark on the Real Estate market.
Travon felt reconnecting with Tai Savet from their previous conversation was of great importance and mandatory if Travon would reach his real estate potential.
Later connecting with Tai in late 2020, an immediate positive connection formed. On one hand, Travon would join Agents of LA Realtor services which handles some of the biggest leases and purchases with high-profile stars. On the other hand, Tai immediately made Travon head of his podcast division which houses some of the most successful realtors, escrow, and lending voices.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life is as smooth as we envision it. As I’ve grown I’ve learned the obstacles of our lives are part of the necessary process in order for us to blossom, become a better product, more importantly better human beings.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Real Estate Agents, we all want the million dollar houses because of course it equals more commission, but my pride and joy is helping first-time home buyers, it’s more fun helping people that saved every dollar they have to get their first home, which may not be our dream home, but to them it means everything.
What I’m known for, specialize in and most proud of is helping a client that comes to me needs to fix their credit and purchasing their first property. This is what sets me apart, I take pride in the entire process, not a piece of the process, but the entire journey, and when you get to the end, where the client gets their keys, you’re just as happy as they are!!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I put out a children’s book a couple of years back that teaches children about the differences of all of us as humans. Of course in K-6 format, so it’s an easy educational read. It’s available on Amazon called “You Look Different”.
