Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiera Turner.
Hi Tiera, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am Tiera LaVin, San Francisco-born, Detroit-raised brand specialist & designer. My ancestors were also entrepreneurs. So I flowed into my role accordingly. I’ve had a computer since the age of 10 and over time I picked up the craft and passion for design. When it was my time to walk into motherhood, I knew it was also the time to take my skill and hobby and convert into a business. T Styles Graphics was born in 2016, along with my first son. TSG has survived the puppy love years, the phase pre-canva, a pandemic, and now we pivot and scale. Offering an array of Branding Bundles to make sure each brand, whether revamp or new, is branding correctly with paired education.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, clients are not always consistent and sometimes expect designers to read their minds. Overall, I wouldn’t have traded this journey for the world. I have learned so much and still do daily. I recently signed a lease to a suite that will be the first time clients can come and see me in person during business hours. This will be a bit of a challenge for me since my business is mainly online only.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in wearing many hats; I do graphic and web design, I am an 3-time author, I creative direct, I am a lash extension artist, a notary and so much more! As a creative, I don’t limit myself to a category other than “creative” because I do so so much. I don’t like to get bored so staying multifaceted works best for me.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
As a business owner, the most important lesson I’ve learned is simply to communicate. Communication between you and your customers or clients can change the dynamics of how the overall experience will be.
