Life & Work with Marcia Zigler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Zigler.

Marcia Zigler

Hi Marcia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Early in my school career, math was my favorite subject, along with Art. I started drawing when I was nine years old and have a love of solving problems and helping people. I achieved a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 1994. I worked in the “helping profession” as a Children’s Social Worker for DSFC, then moved over to Head Start Preschool as the Mental Health and Disabilities Coordinator in the San Fernando Valley. I then chose to go back to school and obtain a Teaching Credential in Mild/Moderate and taught Special Education for the Newport-Mesa School District. I moved to Orange County in 1999, where my Teaching profession began. Then life throw me a curveball, and I began work in Costume, assisting one of my friends on an Indy film starring Peter Fonda. I fell in love with the Entertainment business even after working 19-hour days and barely making $50 a day! Went on to get into the Costume Designers Guild in 2007 and have remained a Member since. I did move back to LA in 2007 and returned to Orange County in 2009 and began commuting. I did tour with Kanye West for some time, so I did not have to reside in LA.

Life happened again, lol, and I was forced to start over and was led into the Mortgage business, where I started as a Processor and went on to become licensed as a Mortgage Loan Officer in 15 states. I started my own entity, Mortgages, with Marcia, empowered by Nexa Mortgage, LLC in March.

My transition into the Mortgage Industry took some time for me to arrive here. However, I have now found my niche. With a love of helping people, solving problems, a strong aptitude for math, and being creative, Mortgage is the perfect profession for me that gives me the canvas to apply my strengths.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I truly don’t believe that life is a straight path. Obstacles present themselves which only strive to make us stronger and equipped to deal with unexpected surprises! I wouldn’t change any of the circumstances I have had to endure because I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most proud that I started my own business in the midst of mortgage rates being at their highest. What this has given me is the opportunity to build my Referral Network, grow my brand, and for people to get to truly know who I am. I have been volunteering, attending networking events, and growing my referral business and friendships.

What distinguishes me from other Mortgage Loan Officers is that I have been working with people from truly all walks of life for 31 years. I tell people that I might not be an expert in Mortgage, but what I am is consistent, authentic, ethical and here to support people for their highest good.

We all have an obligation to support each other and raise the collective consciousness because what a great world is that if we have people that are truly happy, not living in fear, and trusting the process of life.

Any big plans?
I am looking to build my own Team of loan officers, mainly women. The Mortgage Industry is male-dominated, don’t get me wrong; I love men. However, I want to create a workspace that I can nurture a loan officer to be successful in life and their career. I do have great information to share, and again looking forward to an opportunity to Mentor a team of loan officers to be amongst the greats! I don’t want to be the greatest, but one of the greats!
