Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Austin.
Hi Logan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and then flew over the Rockies with my mom in a blizzard. I grew up in Los Osos, California out in SLO county but ended up moving around a lot in the area. There’s a lot of surfers and skaters nearby with viticulture around the hillside too, small business folks, the whole works. When I was a kid I thought I wanted to be a policeman. Then as I got older art just came more naturally to me. I got into a lot of trouble throughout school and never liked it much but looking back I found my passion right before I graduated high school. It wasn’t until I had taken an acting class that something clicked inside me. I’ll never forget it.
After dropping out of college while taking classes for computer engineering I started messing around with the app Vine while it was still around and did some YouTube videos. At the time I thought that I wanted to be a comedian like Jim Carrey so I started doing collaborations with friends and ended up working with RAVETRAIN, a YouTube channel back in 2017. That’s where I met my buddies Mitch and Johnny. I was lucky to meet a handful of other creative artists there too at the time. Soon after I joined an acting class that was recommended to me by a friend. I quickly found that college had not served towards fueling my ambitions. My friend said that the instructor there was really cool and that I would enjoy the class. I gave it a shot. Everything changed. I met Aaron Metchik, the same instructor for Zack Efron and things really took off. He actually believed in me and saw a spark deep down that resonated with his teachings. His classes have always been very engaging. He shows you exactly what you need to work on. He is not afraid of telling you what you need to change. I love that. I’ve been working with him on and off since 2018.
I remember him telling me about how when Brad Pitt was around my age at the time he moved to Los Angeles with just a car to sleep in. I was inspired, so I headed out to Los Angeles. Shortly after moving to the area, I got to visit my father for the second time in Mexico. It’s a touchy subject so I won’t go in depth but I spent two weeks for the second time in Mexico and had some really eye-opening experiences with my dad. When I got back from Mexico the pandemic had started out of nowhere and I had no idea what was going on. I had no car, barely any friends in the area and I had to start all over again. I felt completely hopeless time after time. Once I got my bearings I finally landed a couple of gigs here and there. I have spent the last three years out here working what feels like non-stop. I would consider myself a workaholic who has definitely hit some major obstacles along the way.
As of recently, I just got done with moving to Koreatown so I’ve been spread pretty thin lately. I don’t think I would have been able to get this far without my healthy support system with some friends and family to be there for me. I am lucky to be alive right now. Literally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, it was never a smooth road. I mean yeah you get your lucky patches here and there but it takes hard work to get to the other side of the deal in life. I guess if I had to name a few struggles along the way I would definitely have to say some authority figures, some teachers (not including my acting instructor), rules, money, unhealthy habits, unhealthy mindsets, my own mentality, my own emotional and physical well-being, the pandemic, aspects of upbringing and of course myself at some points in life. I had moved just over twenty times by the time I hit my 20’s so you could say I’ve been looking for a place that I can call home for a long time. I’ve heard the quote that life is like 20% of what happens to you and 80% of how you respond to it. I can attest that there is truth to that. I know now that these “struggles” are more ways to look at life and seize opportunities for growth. Maybe you’re ready for them, maybe you’re not. It depends. Sometimes you have to force yourself to become ready for life. I just know that I don’t want to retain a negative mindset toward others constantly and struggle if I don’t have to. Healing goes a long way to changing the course of your own future.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I’ve been called a “Jack of All Trades” recently. In these past three years I have kicked off my acting career to a good start, taught myself investment strategies, started independent contracting and started publishing my own life coaching articles called Freedom of Lifestyle on Medium.com to help people get out of the “pandemic mindset” worldwide. The greatest part is that you can access them for free if done correctly via online. That’s the point; to help others who don’t have the resources without any cost if necessary. As far as specialization goes, acting is the focus right now. I did a skincare commercial for a company called Lumin a while back that was actually featured in Germany. A buddy of mine David sent me a video of it on Instagram, totally took me by surprise.
I also got to be on a Jubilee video for Love or Money on YouTube. I met some friends there and went to KBBQ afterwards. Emmanuel & Sebastian are awesome, love those guys. Plus I did a Spotify podcast where I was the winning bachelor. That was fun. Before I moved to Los Angeles I got to work with the community back home on a coming of age student filming about a young man who has his teen troubles growing up. The film is called Astray, it was produced by TFT Films. I played the main character’s older brother James who was a more conflicted character stuck between family and friends. It’s always good to work with the locals back home. They have a solid team that I have come to admire in a wholesome way. Besides that I have done background, I’ve been a PA and met some film legends along the way including Miles Teller, Steven Spielberg, Giovanni Ribisi and Larry David.
I would have to say that I am most proud of my skincare commercial with Lumin that was featured in Germany and my Freedom of Lifestyle publications as of late. As far as what sets me apart from others? Mindset. I have the unfaltering ability to push passed, through, over, around or destroy any obstacle in my way. I will either find a way or make one. Resilience is the name of the game and I’ve learned that my ambition can push past any boundary into an array of opportunities for myself in the future.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
How can people work with me, collaborate or support me? Good question. Anyone can find me on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Medium.com, Collabstr, IMDBPRO, Instagram, Snapchat, Tasker, WAG! and Housesitting.com. Most of my links are located on my YouTube channel and LinkedIn. This gives others more than enough information on what services I can provide, how to set up meetings for collaboration and ways to support me! It’s all about a team mentality. One of the most important and best ways that anyone can support me directly is by sharing my content on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, IMDBPRO, Instagram and Medium.com. With Medium.com when viewing my articles, if it resonates with you or has helped you in any way please feel free to clap at the bottom of the article to show support, share the link and share productive feedback. You can clap for an article up to 50 times and each clap helps me reach one of my dreams of becoming a professional self-employed writer and life coach! As far as my acting career goes, if anyone can share my content on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and IMDBPRO that would be the best! I am currently looking for new representation.
