Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Clear.
Hi Lara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from London. I moved to the USA by way of NYC first and then moved to LA once I had gained my Green Card for acting. Started in Theater, moved into commercials and Voice over and then moved to LA to pursue TV. Of late, I have written a TV pilot set in London that I am currently pitching. Later this year, I am shooting and starring in the first NFT-funded movie. Called I Live here Now. In covid, I wrote a full children’s book series that is doing well on amazon and in local LA bookstores.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So many struggles along the way. First of all, trying to get working papers for the USA was a major struggle. Once I finally gained my visa, I then had to work quickly towards attaining the Green Card which an even bigger hurdle.
In this business, you constantly get rejected so it is super hard to stay motivated and keep the want to persevere. Day in day-out rejection is very tough mentally and physically and trying to stay a float with money in LA is a struggle. The constant effort of working side jobs to support your dreams is tiring and also being away from family and friends is a tiresome sacrifice. Time flies when you pursue your dreams and you realize how much time you have spent away from loved ones in pursuit of happiness in career.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actress and producer. What sets me apart from others is my determination and ability to finish any task I put my mind to.
I created a children’s book series in the pandemic which I am proud of. I donated a lot of them to children at CHLA and when I volunteer with my dog. We are a volunteer pet therapy team. You can buy my books on amazon.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very cheeky, funny, gregarious little girl with lots of friends and a love for school, sports and after curriculum activities. Always wanting to be busy with friends and never wanting to sit still and not much has changed since.
