Life & Work with Azul Aguamarina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Azul Aguamarina.

Hi Azul, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started painting, as most children do when I was about 5. It became very clear to my parents that I had an artistic path ahead, and when I was nine, they enrolled me in an extracurricular painting program. I’ve never stopped creating, using as many media as I encountered to express myself through the years.

I majored in painting and did an art master’s program in Bilbao. Processing art compositions, choosing colors, shapes and vibrating with them is what keeps me alive. I paint every day and is always my favorite part of the day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Art is never a smooth road. Even when you find the time and the space to create, it might be hard to connect with yourself or even be gentle with your process and the way of achieving that visual that you are downloading from your imagination. It is fundamental to make peace with all the struggles (that I’m sure) will keep on coming along the way, and learn how to surf that wave in the best possible way so the process is enjoyed as much as the result, Inspiration is kind of a mystery, impossible to rush.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an abstract painter. I’m currently working on big canvases with a lot of colors. Trying to capture the spirit, dancing through life (It doesn’t get more abstract than that!)

And I’m proud of the way my Art is evolving. There has been many ups and downs, and Art has always been there for me, grounding my energy, so I consider it my job to be open and available and allowing myself the time for thy Art to come to life.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would love to encourage anyone who feels an artistic call to allow some time without any judgment to play with words, colors, or costumes and go back to that childlike spirit of Art. I believe that to be the essence of it all
