Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Diane.
Hi Ali, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Everett, Washington but most people don’t know where thats at so I usually say Seattle. I started songwriting and making music in 2016 when I came back from my college program at Walt Disney World! My favorite genre and what best describes my artistry is Pop. Some artists that have inspired me and I believe have made me the artist I am today would be Julia Michaels, Sia, AJR, Quinn XCII, and Olivia O’brien to name a few. From singing in my bedroom to Lizzy McGuire songs with a hairbrush microphone to songwriting and performing my originals on social medial and live shows. In 2018, I started a small band with my old friend from college and have been performing at many new venues since! I am very family-oriented so all of my family and closest friends come to all my performances, acting as roadies and handing out business cards.
I was lucky enough to catch the attention of my producer Jake Crocker and writing a song for my friend to walk down the aisle to on Disney’s Fairytale weddings season 2. Episode 1 on Disney Plus! This song is on my Spotify and is called “Magic”. I am in the middle of finishing an entire album with Jake and am so excited to share it with you all very soon! I have been hired for several shows at various locations and am starting to play at clubs where some of my local idols play. Even though I have had some great experiences, I am not close to reaching all my goals. Because I am such a Disney kid, I think it has helped push me to staying so dedicated to making it in the music industry. I want the biggest stage possible to inspire others the way some of favorite artists have inspired me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have struggled with health issues from birth, and this has shaped who I am. Even though life has been difficult, music has always been my escape. Having some low self-esteem has always been a challenge for me, however, as soon as I am up on stage… all of the insecurities go away. It’s like I am a completely different person when I am able to immerse myself into music. I want to share my experiences and my struggles with my health issues with the world and to influence others to follow their dreams regardless of any limits or restrictions they may have. I want to inspire others to overcome their own limitations and to never give up no matter what. I will always take time to reach out to those who are struggling, no matter how successful I become with my music.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Pop singer-songwriter who specializes in writing about past experiences, trauma and love. I guess you can say I am somewhat of a “Taylor Swift”. I am most proud of the time I got to sing for my friend’s Disney fairytale wedding on Disney plus. Because I am such a huge Disney kid, the experiences was even more magical and sentimental for me.
What I think sets me apart from others is me being able to be honest and real with my audience. With social media being such a big part of our lives, I feel like we get caught up in comparing our lives to others and I do my best to show the rawness of my emotions through my music.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I live in Seattle but LA and Seattle are similar so answers are the same.
What I like about LA is that it is the main HUB for music. There is so many people in the music industry and can find like-minded people. The thing I like least about it is that is because it’s a Hub for music, it is always so busy and can be overwhelming.
