Now, she is traveling the world speaking to women about the importance of living in truth and sharing their stories.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest, I feel like the road to this level of “success” is still an ongoing learning lesson. The odds were against me from the very beginning. My mother had me at the age of fourteen. I later followed her footsteps and delivered my first daughter at the age of 17. Not long after the delivery, I had a nervous breakdown because I finally came to terms that my reality was I’ve been raped on numerous occasions by family members, their friends and people I believed to be my friends as well. I watched drugs come in and out my house and I also watched my parents use them. Homelessness was apart of my everyday fear and at the age of 19 became my life. With these adversities and so many more, I kept my eye on the prize and that was to live my most authentic self and to not be ashamed of the choices that I made. I also learned to no longer be ashamed of my family. I knew that I had to do my very best because there were so many young girls like me who needed someone to speak their language. Speak to their hurt… their confusion and their fear. As I do now when I travel the world; I urge ALL women to live their truth and share their stories. It helps themselves and it helps their sisters on a therapeutic level.
Please tell us about Sip & Become.
I am a Celebrity Life Coach, Philanthropist, Educator, Therapist… I am a WOMAN. In 2018, I started a 501c3 non-profit organization that empowers young girls through performing arts, social building skills, and international connections. Sacrit Devahood Inc specializes in teen counseling, financial literacy preparedness and health and wellness. Currently, she is touring the country inspiring women to tell their story and live a more authentic life.
Five years ago, I opened up my first all-girl school in Kampala, Uganda & Malawi, Mezembe. I am now educating young girls in Los Angeles. When I’m not homeschooling and giving one on one sessions to my clients; I tour the world speaking to women about living in their truth and teaching them alternative therapy techniques. This was all inspired by my debut book, ‘Herstorys – Her history told through the eyes of her true self’. Writing this book was the beginning of my life’s shift. I was ready to face my skeletons and let go of a lot of baggage. I was ready to live in my truth.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
WITHOUT A DOPE. I like to say, “My body was sacrificed to save the lives of others”. I don’t know what I would have been doing if my voice was once stripped without my permission. I don’t know what I would be doing if my clothes weren’t stripped off my body without my permission. And with all of the heartache… I have no idea where I would be now without performing arts.
