Today we’d like to introduce you to Eugeniia Gul.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Ukraine, but since I was a kid, I didn’t like the Ukrainian mentality, I didn’t understand what am I doing at that place and who are the people I surrounded myself with.
At the age of 21, I changed my life and immigrated to Poland on my own. How? I planned it, visualized my life in an unknown country and saved money, which I earned myself. I had a hope and desire of finding peace, harmony, freedom and my life mission in the unknown land.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find inner peace. In Poland, I’ve realized what “discrimination against foreigners” really means (not from the books). On my worst days, I didn’t want to get out from home and sometimes I didn’t even want to get out of bed. What for? To try hard and to fail again and again? Thank you. Tired. Nevertheless, I’m very grateful to that country and its citizens, who made me wiser and stronger. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right?
Besides all of that, I got my Master’s degree and Postgraduate degree in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy in the capital of Poland. Even more important – I got married a polish man. Who could think and plan it? Love should never be something you plan.
Immigration with the partner is not easier than immigration alone. At the age of 25, my husband and I immigrated to the US, where I try to appreciate every single day, every moment and every second of my life. Is it easy as it sounds? NO, it’s not easy at all. In the city of angels, I established a start-up company that empowers women to create the lives of their dreams through personal development, business-building, self-perfection, and organizational skills improvement.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey was not easy at all. Since I was a kid, I didn’t have moral support and support of my goals from the parents. I didn’t know anything about unconditional love and till that moment I loved myself only for academic degrees, high position job, money on the bank account and so on. Looking back, I guess it was kinda self-destruction because it has nothing in common with self-love.
I achieve everything without financial and emotional support from the outside. The main “sponsors” of my achievements are:
• Self-faith
• Self-love
• Self-control
• Self-discipline
• The aspiration to inspire others
Was it easy to “find the sponsors”? It was very tough, but I found them in my second year in sunny California. Frankly speaking, the first year was the hardest for me; I didn’t understand why there are so many crazy, greedy, selfish, aggressive people on my way? In my imagination, California would solve all of my “problems”. I do not believe in coincidence and spontaneous things in life, each acquaintance, even with bad people, has the meaning and whatever situation happens in life (even when we think that it’s the end of the world) leads us to acquaintance with ourselves. In our life journey, we can be, and often are acquainted with ourselves (we just have to recognize it).
If I could give to women one advice, I would say the following:
Accept yourself unconditionally! Are you sad? Fine! Who said that you have to wear a smile all the time? It is ok to be sad or disappointed. Are you feeling stuck in life? No worries! Accept yourself and sooner or later you will get a new perspective, which will lead you to the point where you NEED to be.
Please tell us about WorkGulBook.
I was looking for my life purpose for many years. I had an inner dialogue with myself whether the things, which I do daily, truly attract ME or do they attract my mom and society, which I want to please. I did the therapy on myself individually with the therapist and in addition to individual therapy, I attended group therapy. The years of narrowing so deep into my inner self helped me to find a life mission and to collect all the necessary tools, which I’ve learned during this much-effort journey to the WorkGulBook.
I wrote honestly, truthfully, fully aware that one day women will follow my 12 steps that can help them to enjoy the journey of “finding their true selves”. I wrote exactly what made it possible to find inner peace and my life purpose. I feel the responsibility to share my knowledge and experience with other women who, like me, want to feel happy and fulfilled.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Many of you probably heard about the book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” written by Stephen Covey, which I had a chance to read this summer. I recommend reading this book twice! It would be great to read it in different languages if you’re bilingual! I read a book in Russian and English and it made me rethink my life priorities twice. It is the most wonderful book I read last year or maybe the most incredible book I have ever read in my entire life!! Can you imagine how great it is?!
The second book, which comes to my mind, is “Emotional Intelligence” by Daniel Goleman. This masterpiece will help you to understand that IQ has nothing in common with emotional intelligence: self-awareness, empathy, motivation, self-regulation, and social skills. We live in a high-speed world, in the era of social media – rushing the things out forgetting about “Emotional Intelligence” as a leading factor in success.
The third book, which I highly recommend to read is “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson. This book reminded me that we have control over our emotions and not emotions over us. We should stress less and take things less seriously, the key to a good life is not about caring more; it’s caring about less, caring about only what is true and important.
My favourite Ted Talk is “Why we have too few women leaders” by Sheryl Sandberg. Sheryl Sandberg is a chief operating officer of Facebook and the author of the book “Lean In: Women Work, and the Will to Lead”, – I didn’t have a chance to read the book, so I cannot recommend it, but I highly recommend you to watch the Ted Talk in which Mrs. Sandberg shares her view on what stops women from becoming the CEO’s. If you’re interested to read about challenges for women in the 21st century and what does it mean to be a woman nowadays, I invite you to my blog: www.geniusuniquelady.com/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-woman-in-the-21st-century.
