Life & Work with Dennaya Famous

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennaya Famous.

Hi Dennaya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was a little girl , I remember going to my grandma’s house and looking at all the models in the magazines, with those stunning outfits and amazing looks. I was young, but I always knew fashion and beauty were a part of me. For me, fashion is another form of art and an amazing way to express myself. It’s helped own who I am and that has reflected in the confidence I have for myself.  I think it’s quite an interesting story how I became a fashion blogger. I used to take pictures of my outfits daily in effort to overcome my shyness and people started to gravitate to my posts, from there I grew an audience and then the brand partnerships and opportunities followed.  More than three years later here I am, sharing my looks, trips and pretty much all I do with my followers. It still feels like a dream sometimes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With everything in life there’s always a struggle or some sort of block but those moments are always filled with valuable lessons that will help you remember why you started and help you grow .  In particular, I think as a black woman in the fashion and business world it’s sometimes hard to find your seat at the table or find others who look like you at that same table. So, you always feel like an outsider in some sense but developing a strong sense of self and knowing that I deserve a seat at that table has always helped me get through.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Beauty and wellness have always been a huge pillar in my life, taking care of my body gives me a sense of peace and pride. When I’m home(which is a lot these days) I spend a lot of time in self-care mode and skincare is my go-to. So, after many years of reaping the benefits of a healthy skincare regimen and relationship with my body I’ve decided it’s time to venture into the beauty business and launch my own brand. Lyna Beauty will be available this holiday season with two staple products that everyone could use in their routines. This is a passion project for me and the idea that my products will be used during such a sacred time with self is what keeps me going. www.lynabeauty.com

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?

I think it’s important to be patient and not put too much pressure on yourself, everything blooms at its own pace. We’ve all learned a lot of valuable lessons this year that should have helped us learn to appreciate life, health, and ourselves a little more.
