Hi Lashelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started with Meditation when I moved to Arizona in 2012. I had never lived outside of LA and I was used to all the distractions that can come with living there. Big city life, taking care of self, family and just fully involved in busying myself so much that I didn’t realize I was neglecting myself and honestly, disconnected from myself. Once I moved, I was confronted with me. I didn’t have all the distractions from being back home. I didn’t know anyone. I had to finally face the mirror. All my flaws, shadows, unhealed trauma and things that I had suppressed by being busy. There was nowhere to run and hide. I was thrown into it. Meditation found me. It saved my life. It helped me make peace with the noise of life and find myself centered enough to hear that inner voice and guidance that I had tuned out so long ago. It taught me to go towards myself and to become besties with my shadow self. It taught me to forgive myself and others in order to free myself from the emotional hold. It was having on me. It taught me to love myself. It reintroduced me to me and I love that for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely has its peaks and valleys. It was a rough start because who am I to offer this service to others? Little old me? Who would want to hear me? What I had to say? What makes my take different? I was judging the fuck out of myself. I was my worse critic and if I didn’t believe, why would anyone else? I had to step into my power and own It. I had to give myself permission to be great. I had to trust myself and be open to taking a chance on me. I had to stop thinking and start taking action. That leap was the best decision I’ve made. I did it scared. I did It without knowing how all of It would go, but I was comfortable with knowing my “WHY”. My son is my why, the possibility of my impact is my way, empowering people with a new way of thinking and seeing meditation was my why. Knowing It changed my life is my why. That was more than enough reason for me to simply try. Taking baby steps was still steps. It was worth all the challenges, lessons and blessings along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Goddess Guidance LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Goddess Guidance is my baby. It’s my unorthodox approach to Meditation, Cuddle Therapy and also my merch which consists of coffee mugs, sage kits and more. I know some people hear meditation and think of sitting quiet with your legs crossed and being told to quiet your mind. For me, that was off-putting. I would’ve never tried if that was the only way. I’m here to tell you that’s NOT the only way. With me, you may be dancing, grounding in nature, listening to a guided playlist, journaling, laughing and crying. Meditation is not a one size fits all. Let me help reintroduce you to you by finding a way that works for you. I work with adults, kids, families and a lot of skeptics. Let me make you a believer. Let me arm you with the tools that’ll help make your day-to-day a bit easier. The first thing I usually hear is “I don’t have time” if you have time to scroll on social media, you have time and I got you. I also offer professional Cuddle Therapy services. Yes, it’s a real thing. Lol. We are living in an overly sexual, digital world that has lost its human connection. So many people are deficient in intimacy. Not sex, intimacy. Just cuddling up with someone with no expectations. Simply being in good company melting the stress of the day away. Everyone is glued to their phones, electronics and working to survive. We have forgotten that people need people, but I haven’t. I know the power of a warm hug, a shoulder to cry on. A safe space to simply be so that you have the strength to try another day. Scientifically, cuddling helps release the “feel good” hormone in your brain. That includes dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. That can lower depression, improve your mood and overall mental health. So let me help your mind with meditation and improve your overall help with some cuddles. I am here as a vessel to serve and I’ve found my purpose. Meditation and Cuddling have been life-changing for me, I’m grateful that I get the chance to offer it to others.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I definitely had to learn to roll with the punches. Covid took my business for a ride. I lost a lot of business due to the fear It instilled. That’s when I added virtual options for Meditation and I added my merch at that time as well. I was able to see what I was made of in business due to a drastic shift that shook the world.
