Today we’d like to introduce you to Coco Dee.
Hi Coco, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
There are so many versions of Coco that have been and gone over the last two decades!
Business and entrepreneurship is a wild ride that requires constant reinvention of self, of business strategy and the way in which you interact and love on your clients.
My humble beginnings were with a one-bedroom apartment and then my love for property grew from there. In a few short years, I owned a multi-million dollar property portfolio that not only grew in value but also had great cash flow. From there, my strategy shifted to sub-divisions and then low-scale property development. At one point, I was managing $60 million of property development projects.
From there, I invested and began building cashflow businesses (as the property game isn’t overly cashflow focused – if anything, quite the opposite).
And here we are today, I am a shareholder in seven businesses and work intimately with each Management Team to ensure the success and growth of each brand. I am absolutely in love with what I do and consider myself extremely blessed to do what I do on a daily basis.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I nearly spat out my juice when you asked me this!!
Now that I am composed, I wonder, have you ever met someone who has had a smooth ride in business and / or life? I must say that I haven’t met anyone who fits into this criteria just yet. And I am by no means the exception.
The road has been full of dead ends, roundabouts, steep hills, road blocks, traffic jams, as well as clear highways with no speed limits.
You name the struggles and I have had them – liquidation, bankruptcy, divorce, business partnership breakdowns, loss of multi-millions, ventures that ended before they started, etc… And yet, here I am, still standing. I am upright, breathing with a smile on my face and ready for the next challenge and all the others that will continue to come my way.
There is not one part of me that believes that challenge or struggle will not come knocking again. As they say, when you’re in the arena, you have to expect to get some knocks. The things I know today, thanks to all these things, are a blessing and I would never have voted for them; now I see they were a necessary evil.
We’ve been impressed with Female Financial Literacy Library (FFLL), but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Female Financial Literacy Library was created as it is the very resource and community space I wish I had when I began as an 18 years old in business and investing.
For years I had to kiss many frogs (aka mentors and coaches) AND lose lots of money, to learn what I know today about building wealth.
When I started this journey, there were many books written by men – but nothing came close to the detail and explicitly open forum that is the Female Financial Literacy Library.
Where you could pay thousands to consult with the big dogs, I’m bringing my community of experts to educate and support women to fast-track their wealth and investment pathways.
This vault of financial content is like no other; providing a roadmap, conversations and community from the most basic of financial terms to what they need to scale and uplevel to deca-millions and beyond.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My parents were avid travelers who favoured experiences over “things”. Every year we were fortunate enough to visit new countries and go on adventures that most would only ever dream of. Traveling around the world gave me a perspective on living that I would not have had without it and I am forever grateful to my parents for giving me this.
