Today we’d like to introduce you to Cashawna Flores.

Hi Cashawna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I found my love and passion for food at a young age. My Grandmother Naomi Smith was a pinnacle part of my life, she was a loving soul that was full of wisdom, very vibrant, and strong-minded. It seems as though my grandmother showed me the path when I was younger because her teachings resonate with me today. Growing up in Los Angeles where times were tough, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my Grandmother. This is where the life lessons were taught while engaging in creating a dish for the household. She taught me that patience is the key to creating, but not only creating it also gives you the opportunity to figure out bumps or roadblocks that may come in the process. I’ve watched her create something out of nothing, she taught me that a little could go a long way and everyone could eat even on a small budget. The time we spent in the kitchen was so special to me. I learned how to gauge the heat of the stove, and season with my heart, and bake with love.

I’ve taken all of the great things she showed me, like creating recipes from my soul to having pride in my food and family. All of those things have been applied to my adult life. I found being in the kitchen was an effortless task for me and brought me so much happiness and joy I knew it was what I was meant to do. I love to host events and share my food with family and friends. After hearing a lot of great feedback, I knew I had to share my love for cooking and baking with as many people as possible.

After creating EliteCateringCa five years ago, which has truly been a blessing for me and my family. This life experience has taught me that not everyone needs to be professionally trained to be a Chef, and with the skills that I’ve learned, I definitely can compete with the best of them. Now I’m able to show my kids what hard work really is, building a company from the ground up, and all the joy you get from grinding hard to make it all come together. This is the start of something amazing, our client base is growing and we are so happy to share all of EliteCateringCa creations with the world. Only the best for our Elite Customers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a successful catering business, you need to stand out from the crowd and be a symbol of excellence. It can be hard staying ahead of the game. Your recipes need to be better than the rest not to mention your price point needs to be competitive. A lot of my business comes from referrals, which is why having a great personality is necessary. It can be hard hiring staff because of the fluctuate business need. I’ve experienced not having a full staff at points and was unable to take on larger projects because of it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
EliteCateringCa was started five years ago by Cashawna Flores. It’s a Family-Owned company that uses old-school family recipes and some new school creations. We are proud when our food/ service puts a smile on our client’s faces.

We are known for our variety of Pie’s, Speciality Cakes, and Cookie Baskets along with Chocolate breakable heart boxes. We also have the most amazing Savoury dishes that would blow your mind (Braised Short Ribs with garlic mashed potatoes, Shrimp and Grits, Blacken Cod with Mac & Cheese, Ropa Vieja with rice and black beans, etc.)

EliteCateringCa is an all-around catering company, can do it all, one-stop-shop, help plan & cater the event. We specialize in Multi-Cultural comfort food! Offering a variety of amazing dishes and sweets.

We provide an amazing experience by creating custom catering menus that fit our client’s needs.
